The second playoff race at Kansas was a complete rise and fall of emotions for the NASCAR drivers and their fandoms. The race was replete with wrecks and cautions as it headed toward overtime. Nevertheless, it was 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick who notched his second victory of the season at the 100th start of the team in the series.

While Tyler Reddick persevered and held on to his position till the last drop, fate was not in the favor of all the drivers present on the track, as they were forced to concede defeat and return to the pits. One such being Jeff Burton’s son, who failed to tame the Speedway after being caught in the aggressiveness of the rising Jimmie Johnson‘s star driver.

It was utter chaos on the track at Kansas Speedway. The drivers found themselves embroiled in a series of wrecks and mechanical failures. Nevertheless, the race did not fail to deliver a nail-biting performance until the last lap of the race, and the drivers engaged in a fierce battle in order to enter the next stage of the playoffs. However, the wrecked cars did not fail to disrupt the day for veteran drivers like Martin Truex Jr. and even rookie drivers.

Another driver who was involved in such a scenario was Jeff Burton’s son, Harrison Burton. The driver, who extended his contract with his team for another season, eventually spun out on the track and slammed into the outside wall with great intensity. The reason behind the wreck was discovered after making contact with Jimmie Johnson’s emerging star and truck series prodigy, Carson Hocevar.

Burton sustained heavy damage as he limped back onto the track in order to make amends. The team tried to make the necessary changes but failed to do so as the time under the DVP clock struck off. The driver was forced to retire from the race.

Owing to this, in an interview with Frontstretch Media, Burton expressed, “Yeah, I didn’t see him, so. I like to watch things before I say anything, but I am pretty confident I was on his outside, he moved to the left and hit me. I did not know I was broken until I got into three, I guess I had a tire flat, maybe a broken toe link at that point.

“Yeah, this is a bummer. There’s a lot you could say, as I said I want to watch it before I get in the media and say something dumb.”

It was not just Harrison Burton who faced such a fate, but also regular-season champion Martin Truex Jr. The JGR driver spun on the track and edged up to the outside before crashing into it. After the car was towed away, leading into the first caution, Martin Truex Jr. had to call it quits.

In the post-race interview, Truex Jr. revealed, “Man I hate it for my guys and we had an awesome race car.”
