With 2 Cup Series championships to his name, Kyle Busch has always been riding the waves of victory. However, the 2022 season turned out to be a big disappointment for the driver. This was due to the uncertainty that loomed over his future because of failed sponsorship talks. However, Busch joining Richard Childress Racing for the 2023 season was the talk of the town, as many considered it to be folly on the driver’s part. But it did not take time for Kyle Busch to prove it otherwise, as he churned out impressive results with his results.  

But the dark period in Busch’s life can’t be overlooked, which not only affected the driver but also his family. And even NASCAR reporter Pete Pistone for MRN asserts these facts on the latest episode of NASCAR on NBC.

Kyle Busch’s Joining RCR Is Churning Out Results After Losing Motivation at the JGR Camp

Kyle Busch after leaving his former team Joe Gibbs Racing, revealed his disappointment in leaving his team for 15 seasons. In an episode of Race for the Championship, Busch also spilled the beans about how the scenarios had flipped inside the camp of JGR as the Busch family was left without any motivational support. Even his wife Samantha Busch had acknowledged it as well. She revealed, “It’s like beyond me that we’re even going through this, I never thought we’d go through this.”

But the decision to join Richard Childress’s team has proved to be a fruitful one. Even Pete Pistone accepts it on the podcast with Nate Ryan as the host. Pistone expressed, “There has to be some of that, to see what you had and he is gone, but I also think that there was a point last year that felt like it was diminishing returns for everybody. It got acrimonious, there were a lot of hard feelings, the documentary, behind the scenes they had last year on the USA.”

He added, “We saw Kyle and Samantha talking about how their feelings were hurt. I think it was time to make a break for everybody, not that there was remorse on both sides. Two things about Kyle Busch’s success that are really intriguing to me, one RCR that Jeff and Steve were talking about. Maybe we undervalued how good the equipment was.”

“Tyler Reddick won in the car that Kyle Busch in last year…there are no questions about Kyle Busch’s pedigree, we know the talent and we put those two things together and look at the results.”

And it seems that Pistone’s words do hold some value, as the results delivered by the No.8 Chevrolet team are apparent. Kyle Busch has already secured three victories in the ongoing season and is geared up to enter the playoffs. The zeal he is portraying with his new team has set expectations high for both, RCR and also the fans as a title contender.

Pete Pistone also affirmed, “But the other part of this, the bizarre world where we are in right now, Kyle Busch is becoming a fan favorite. He is getting more cheers than some other drivers. At Gateway a couple of weeks ago, when he won the race, the stands that were cheering him wildly.”

He attributes Kyle Busch’s newfound popularity to factors, one that Busch leaving Toyota and joining Chevrolet. And the apparent reason being the joining of Richard Childress Racing, after leaving JGR. These changes have evidently helped and propelled the driver in finding his grip back on the tracks of NASCAR.

Nevertheless, with the next race scheduled at Nashville, where the driver didn’t do quite well the last year, due to a lapse of judgment from the team, it is to be seen whether the driver is able to secure a win this time, with his new team.
