The safety of drivers in motorsports has always been a critical issue. However, alongside them are the people on the other side of the wall, and the question arises: are they really safe? Be it the NASCAR Cup Series or any other motorsport racing series, it is always going to be incomplete without the presence of the paparazzi around the tracks. After all, it is the media and the broadcasters who provide the fans with entertaining and invaluable content. Regardless of that, it is imperative to safeguard them.

However, things turned unfortunate for a photographer on Saturday night. With two laps remaining in the CARS Tour Pro Late Model race at Hickory, the competition looked intense between Mike Hopkins and Isabella Robusto. Both the drivers came together at the start-finish line but Robusto lost control and went crashing into the inside wall.

The contact with Hopkins saw the 18-year-old driver crash into a section of the inside retaining wall. The impact of the contact with the barrier was so strong that it rammed the concrete slab right into the photographer standing on the other side of the barrier.

As a result, the photographer flipped and fell head-first on the ground. At first, the incident looked nasty. Fortunately, the injured was immediately taken to a medical facility. As of now, the severity of his injuries is unclear. However, it is believed that he has received some stitches, and no damaged bones have been detected.

It was truly terrible what happened, but it could have been much worse. This is so much reminiscent of the cameraman incident that took place in January at the Irwindale Speedway.

Certainly, this makes one wonder about a lot of things. Was the photographer supposed to be standing there? Even if he was not, why did the wall not sustain the impact? Naturally, such questions, combined with other worrisome thoughts, left the NASCAR fans in panic.
