While the whole field seemed struggling to get a grip on the New Hampshire track, Martin Truex Jr was unstoppable. He led almost every lap of the race, won two stages, and finally, he took home the lobster trophy. However, the talk of the town is not his win, but the discussion surrounding his retirement.

Truex signed only one year contract last year which will end at the end of this season. So this only gives weight to the rumors. Amid all this, Joe Gibbs recently made comments on Martin’s retirement and he also talked about bringing a former driver to his team.

The team owner recently opened up about the matter and he revealed that Martin is repeating the same thing every year.

Joe Gibbs, in the press conference at New Hampshire, said, “He tells me the same thing every year that I’m right in the middle of trying to make this decision. I go, ‘Come on what are you talking about, man? You making money, you’re having fun driving race cars. Come on!’ But no. I think it is very important for us to kind of have pressure here because it’s pressure for all of us.”

He continued about their deal, “It’s a huge deal for all of us and I’m hoping I really felt like he’s having such an I think great year and I think He is having fun and so I’m hoping that we get a good answer for us here”

Joe Gibbs certainly looks to retain Martin Truex as he lost veteran driver Kyle Busch last year. But, the question still remains, if the #19 driver decides to move on, who will replace him?

While the team figures that out, us fans may have gotten a tease about the latest addition to the JGR team.

Well, it all started with an Instagram post from Southeast Bank.

The bank put out a post with the caption, “The secret is out!”

“Now, who’s ready for some content? 🎥 Something’s coming next week… follow @SouthEastBank.TN and @TBayne6 to be the first to know!”

The 2011 Daytona 500 winner has previously driven for JGR. Last year, he drove nine races for the team in the Xfinity series. And now, with this post, it is rumored that he will be back in the series, this time in the #19 car.

Following Joe Gibbs’s comments on Martin Truex Jr about his retirement, it is totally up to Martin to make the decision. Moreover, he has some strong points that he shared in the post-race presser.

“It takes a big commitment. Um, my team is amazing, they deserve the very best driver, the guy that wants it more than anyone else. And I have been that guy and I want to make sure that if I come back, I’m willing to do that. It takes a lot, it’s not just show up the track, drive, go home.”

Truex continued, “Take a lot, a lot of commitment, a lot of travel, a lot of time missing things with family and friends, and all those things that I’ve done for, you know, 25 years. Do I want to keep doing it? And am I willing to sacrifice all those things again for my team? So that’s just what I’m thinking about.”

The #19 driver concluded by saying, “I don’t know that running good and winning makes a difference. It’d be pretty awesome to win the championship and walk off into the sunset. But, I don’t, I just don’t really know. I really don’t know. I’m bad at making big decisions.”
