They say laughter is the best medicine for all pains and anxieties of life. It’s debatable whether that is scientifically true, but Rodney Childers, the crew chief of Stewart Haas Racing driver, Kevin Harvick, certainly believes so.
Childers had posted a tweet of the No.4 SHR hauler which is “loaded up and ready to roll” ahead of the race in Fontana. On that tweet, an enthusiastic fan asked, “Damn right!! We got 2 cars ready for this weekend!!?”
And Childers, who probably didn’t want to break the heart of this fan when the reality comes to light, simply posted a GIF of a man hysterically laughing, which says all there is to say about the current situation.

It’s no secret that NASCAR teams are facing a supply crisis with the new Next Gen car. Several teams have been publically expressing how they’re either not able to get certain parts or, in some cases, whole cars ready in time for racing.
Such was the anxiety before the Daytona 500, and it remains the same as NASCAR heads back to California.
What could the car shortage mean for Kevin Harvick in Fontana?
We all know that race car drivers want to race, and race for the win. The mentality is aggressive, the objectives clear, and the approach, more often than not, straightforward.
However, in the light of the recent issues, especially with 30 cars being torn up in Daytona, it won’t be surprising to see many drivers and teams take a rather pragmatic approach to the coming races.

This would basically mean that instead of going door-to-door and bumper-to-bumper for a win, drivers may be forced to maintain distance and see the race through with an undamaged car.
Yet all of this may not even happen if the teams somehow find the parts, build the car, and the supply issues are fixed.

But it’s a big ‘if’, and more likely than not, NASCAR teams might be in for a tough few race weeks in the near future.
