Dale Earnhardt Jr and Amy Earnhardt’s relationship has always hit close to home, quite literally. The pair first met when Junior hired Amy’s interior design firm, Micamy Design Studio, to help with his Kannapolis home near Charlotte. Fast-forward to the completion, and the pair had kick-started a romantic relationship. Its 2024, and the pair now have a mighty real estate portfolio across America.

With that being said, one aspect of that relationship certainly hasn’t changed, and that’s helping Dale Earnhardt Jr turn a house, into a loving home. Just like the time when she helped design his Charlotte home, Amy now finds herself creating a home for the pair in South Carolina, by helping Junior meet the new neighbors. However, Junior’s inquisitive and introverted nature didn’t make things easier.

Kyle Larson & HMS Are Planning to Return to Indy 500 Next Year. But Should They?

Yes! It Is Great for NASCAR

No, It Was a Disaster This Time

After the Coca-Cola 600 was done and dusted, Dale Earnhardt Jr made an appearance on the Dale Jr Download to talk about his weekend. Instead of witnessing the Crown Jewel in person at Charlotte, he was at the Tri-County Speedway to attend the CARS Tour race. On a weekend filled with catastrophic storms, Junior was looking forward to getting back to his home in South Carolina in time to watch the big race. That being said, Amy Earnhardt had other plans for the family.

Junior shared, “We’ve been here for a couple of years, and we don’t really know many people in the neighborhood, haven’t really made a big effort to get out there and meet the neighbors too much, we’re cool with it. So we’ve been here several years and we’ve got one neighbor across the street that we’ve come to really appreciate. And Amy says, by this summer, we’re going to meet the neighbors.”

According to Junior, even though he wasn’t anti-social, his introverted nature meant meeting new people was quite the task. But once Junior returned from NC, he was met with an eager Amy that he just couldn’t say no to. He stated, “I got up early early in the morning and came to the beach. Amy and the girls were already down here, and she said, when you get here, we’re going to a person’s house, and so I immediately got anxious. I make everything a bigger deal than it really is. So I get super nervous.”

As Junior got nervous, he turned into the ‘Interrogator’, asking Amy “How’d you meet these people? Who are they? Who all are gonna be there?” To which Junior simply got an annoyed look and a stern response. He continued, “She’s just like, “Really? Relax. Stop being such an idiot.” For Junior, meeting new people and opening up to strangers had become quite challenging as the years went by. But no wasn’t an answer that would suffice, and so Junior succumbed to Amy’s wishes.

Fortunately, it seemed to have paid off. Instead of watching the Coca-Cola 600 get marred with delays, Junior had a wholesome evening with new friends and his family. He added, “We went over there and we had a blast. All the kids were getting along and we just hung out the majority of the day and the evening. I missed a lot of the race. I tuned into the race and it was already hit with the rain delay.”

Despite the Coke 600’s misery, Junior’s time with the family had made up for it more than tenfold. He concluded. “So it was fun. The following day, yesterday, we ended up going to another person’s house that we never met. Spent the afternoon in the pool with the kids. At the end of the day, Junior had a weekend that could perhaps rival Kyle Larson’s headaches. He concluded, “So two days in a row, put myself out there. The introvert in me is going crazy.”

Whilst it’s safe to Dale Earnhardt Jr stepped out of his comfort zone for Amy Earnhardt and was rewarded for it, the JR Motorsports owner had other plans in mind for his day off.

Dale Earnhardt Jr’s schedule is going to ramp up relatively quickly. With the Dale Earnhardt Sr documentary and Junior’s deal with Amazon Prime Video right around the corner, there isn’t much time to relax and unwind. So although he spent his free time at his beach home following through with Amy’s plan, the former Cup Series driver didn’t want to stay too far away from racing.

For Junior, the ideal setup had already been visualized before Amy’s plans changed his fate. He shared, “I got here and we love this vacation home of ours and we often dream about moving down here full-time, it’s just a daydream about that. But we love being here, and so I got my sim-rig setup and have the podcast a little bit here this year. So I was just excited about settling in, enjoying the house, and maybe grabbing some dinner with the family. But Amy’s like, ‘nope, you’ve got got plans when you hit the ground. Get ready we’re doing it.”

Despite Junior planning out his holidays to include sim-racing and the Dirty Mo Media podcasts, at the end of the day, spending time with family was more important. Speaking of which, Junior had a message for his neighbors to conclude with; “I just wanted to say, in case our neighbors are tuning in, hey, I had a blast. I had a great time. I need to do that more. I’m just apprehensive, for no good reason I guess.”
