Rev your engines, folks, because the Kansas Speedway hosted more than just tire-squealing action this past Sunday. After the NASCAR Cup Series Hollywood Casino 400, all eyes were on the budding feud between Hendrick Motorsports teammates Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson.

In a recent episode of the ‘Dale Jr Download’ podcast, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his co-host, Mike Davis, discussed Chase Elliott’s response to questions about his interaction with Kyle Larson. The hosts delved into Elliott’s approach to handling media inquiries and the dynamics within Hendrick Motorsports.

Late in the race, Larson’s ride swerved like a bull in a china shop, narrowly dodging Brad Keselowski’s escape act. Alas, his evasive maneuvers left a metallic souvenir—a door-shaped dent—on Elliott’s car. It was a fender-bender to remember. As they both hit the pit road, frustration rocketed through Elliott’s veins, leading him to give Larson’s door a friendly tap in return.

“I think, look man, I ain’t trying to defend Chase, but like, the guy’s got a personality. That was him showing us his personality. You know, that’s who he is and that’s how he wants to be. Then, that’s, what we’re saying. We got tons of guys out there with different personalities that are going to give us a different answer every time you ask them that.” Earnhardt Jr stated.

Davis chimed in and added, “I don’t think he and Kyle Larson like each other. They go back to Watkins Glen of last year. I, think it’s fine. I think it’s kind of cool actually. We got teammates that actually don’t care for each other or they’re very, or they’re big rivals.”

Mike Davis further drew a comparison to Denny Hamlin, known for openly discussing his thoughts and opinions. Davis acknowledged that Chase Elliott chose not to take the bait from the media. However, he was doubtful that Elliott was entirely without issue regarding Kyle Larson.

But wait, there’s more! After the checkered flag waved farewell, Elliott decided to seek out his teammate. The pit road showdown began, and everyone’s popcorn was ready.

In a plot twist worthy of Hollywood, Chase Elliott humbly revisited his frustration, saying, “We obviously ran into each other on pit road, and I didn’t have the full picture of what went on. I was frustrated. That stuff happens, for sure. But at the end of the day, I’ll certainly take the blame for my frustrations on that front.” So, no road rage here, just a little bump in the road.
