With the epic conclusion of the Ally 400 at Nashville, the NASCAR nation not only witnessed Ross Chastain return to the victory lane but was also shocked to see the Coca-Cola 600 winner, Ryan Blaney wreck out in a head-on collision. While the #12 driver escaped the close call unharmed, the community has expressed its concerns over the new Next-Gen cars and their strange dynamics.

And adding to the onslaught of criticisms is Blaney’s Team Penske teammate and reigning Cup champion, Joey Logano. Though Logano is known for his outspoken ways and aggressive driving style, speaking to Sirius XM NASCAR, the driver fired away shots, sarcastically mocking the organization’s next race at Chicago as he dubbed Blaney’s crash on Sunday as a “wake-up call” for the rest of the roster. While the driver made a sarcastic jab at NASCAR’s modern race cars and their safety lapses, the online community, however, went against the grain to remind the 33-year-old veteran about the consequence of siding against NASCAR.

While fans simply love the high-octane action inside the oval, they also witness the brutality of the sport. And Blaney’s recent wreck at Nashville Superspeedway is a fine example of that. Following the restart in Stage 2, Blaney’s #12 Ford lost control in the middle and skidded onto the grass before hitting the concrete barrier head-on.

Not only did the incident stun Blaney, but he was too shocked to realize the odd dynamics of the Next-Gen car which looked like it gained speed once it crossed over to the pavement. Even veterans of the sport including Dale Jarrett mentioned this, saying, “I understand what exactly he was trying to do and what his expectations were and that was what was so strange. It was like it looked like he hit the gas you know the car took off so quickly once it hit the pavement,”

And latest to the scene is Blaney’s teammate, Logano’s fresh remarks about the incident. Logano said, “It’s a wake-up call for sure, you know when you think about any walls that’s concrete with the cars that we’re racing today boy its just they’re stiff and you hit a stiff wall it’s like concrete into concrete, that’s what it feels like,” while the champ quickly checked out his teammate, the incident sheds light on the narrow and treacherous street course at Chicago.

Guess what, the outspoken driver then went for the jugular as he brutally doubled down on NASCAR’s ambition. He said, The good news is we’re going to Chicago and there’s a lot of concrete walls there so hopefully we don’t hit any of those ones, jeez. But hopefully, we put some enough tire packs out there to where we can hit some softer tires before us head on concrete wall.”

Many from the community have expressed their concerns regarding the new variant of the Next-Gen platform, but the car’s stiffness and rigid dynamics and its evident rear-end weakness raise a lot of questions about NASCAR’s true intentions. More importantly, Blaney’s wreck also highlighted the driver’s inability to control the car at times of distress. Even after locking the brakes, the tires were rolling once the car hit the pavement.

Surprisingly, instead of bringing these issues to the community’s eyes, online fans dismissed Logano’s comments, fearing NASCAR’s vendetta in the form of penalties. While one fan lauded Logano’s nerve to publically call out the organization, “The absolute nerve of Logano”
