It is no secret that all forms of motorsports require a ton of money for any driver to compete in. The higher the level, the greater the cost. After a point, it is virtually impossible to compete without sponsors. But for young drivers just getting into the bigger leagues, things can get extremely difficult monetarily. Dale Earnhardt Jr wants to help reduce that burden on drivers competing in the CARS Tour but admits that it is a difficult feat to achieve.
The CARS Tour schedule for the 2024 season was recently released and it has a whopping 20 races. The series will kick off in March and run until October. Many eminent NASCAR entities are in the ownership team including Junior, Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick, and Justin Marks. The excitement around the series seems to be on the up and things are looking good for the future.

Dale Earnhardt Jr understands the financial realities of motorsports better than most. This is in no small part down to being the owner of JR Motorsports which runs in the Xfinity Series. In a recent episode of The Money Lap Live with Parker Kligerman, Junior explained his plan to make racing financially more feasible for drivers across the country.
“We want you to feel like the CARS Tour is a great place to get that opportunity to be able to get noticed. And so that’s what we’re trying to create without changing the financial structure of what competing costs. That’s difficult and I’m learning that,” the two-time Xfinity Series champion said.
Being the owner of a team in a NASCAR-sanctioned competition, Junior understands exactly where the money is going. The former Cup Series driver also said that he could speak to the other owners in the competition and figure out ways to cut additional costs. The 49-year-old could then implement that in the CARS Tour to make competing a lot more feasible for drivers and teams that are not doing very well.
“I’m an owner in a series so I think it gives me a great perspective of, alright I know what it costs for my team to race. I can go to other owners and get pretty good numbers on what it’s costing them to compete and then I can also understand where I as an owner would love to shed cost. You know I can put on my series owner hat and start to figure out how to make that a possibility,” he added.
The CARS Tour may not be at the level of the Xfinity or the Truck Series at the moment but Dale Earnhardt Jr believes that the stock car racing series could serve as a stepping stone to greatness.

Dale Jr explained how the experience and racecraft gained in the competition can help a driver be successful in the higher divisions of NASCAR. Junior also stated that with so many eminent NASCAR personalities in the ownership team, it is a great opportunity for young drivers to get noticed.
“You can go racing in the CARS Tour, learn the same racecraft, you’ll have the same opportunity to learn the same racecraft that will be necessary to be successful at the Truck or Cup, or Xfinity level. You can jump right out of the CARS Tour, get into a Truck, into an Xfinity car, and be ready for that moment. To be able to gain the experience and the understanding of how to compete in a symmetrical chassis, I feel like we’re a great spot. And you know, you have myself, Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick, Justin Marks, and a lot of the industry paying attention,” Dale Earnhardt Jr added.
