Leah Pruett does not seem to have a problem with her husband driving in the NHRA series. However, when a question about Tony Stewart driving in the Cup Series arose, she was quick to shut that door. Smoke is a legend of NASCAR, with three Cup Series titles to his name. Stock car racing fans have loved seeing the legend do what he does best, and they miss that action. Unfortunately, a return doesn’t seem likely at all.
Last year, it was announced that Tony Stewart would take Leah Pruett’s seat in the NHRA series, as she wanted to focus on starting a family for the time being. Smoke has been quite appreciative of the racing action that takes place in the NHRA and was quite excited at the prospect. How things will turn out for the 52-year-old in the competition remains to be seen.

Tony Stewart going to race in the NHRA might have raised the hopes of some NASCAR fans who would love to see Smoke race a few times again in the Cup Series. One of them posed the question to Leah Pruett on Instagram. The reply that came from her was simple, to the point, and disappointing for some. “Any chance for Smoke to return for a NASCAR race or sprint cars? I miss going to watch him,” the fan asked.
“We plan to be at the Clash, and Daytona, and Atlanta as SHR starts the year with the new lineup. As for Back in a Cup car himself, that’s a solid no, and as for sprint car, he just has the Shatz team right now,” Pruett answered and put it on her Instagram Stories.
While any hopes of a possible Cup Series return seem non-existent at this point, Leah Pruett announced that she would be taking part in one final race before stepping away for a while. That decision must have been one of the toughest decisions she has had to make in her life, so it’s quite understandable that she would want that proper last hurrah.

Pruett will be taking part in the NHRA Gator Nationals in March of this year in the PRO Superstar Shootout. The race is lucrative, as it promises the victor a prize of a whopping $250,000. If she is successful, it would be a huge deal both for her and her family, and Tony Stewart would be one proud husband.
