Spire Motorsports and their newest recruit are ready to compete for the most sought-after achievement in NASCAR. The racing team’s rapid growth and expansion made the season’s headlines nearly as much as the race winners. Perhaps that eager ambition featured in their decision to field an upcoming talent next year.
After showcasing his skills in all three NASCAR events, Truck Series?championship contender Carson Hocevar earned a full Cup Series ride for 2024 with Spire Motorsports. However, it appeared the announcement came with its fair share of complications.

Carson Hocevar is having his cake and eating it too! The young Truck driver has won three races this year and has qualified for the Round of 8 in the Craftsman Truck series in the ongoing playoffs. That did not prevent him from dabbling in the occasional Cup Series and Xfinity races at the same time. Moreover, his performance in NASCAR’s premier series, particularly at Bristol Motor Speedway, highlighted his immense potential recently. After almost registering a Top 10 performance alongside the most accomplished NASCAR racers, it was only a matter of time before he got scooped up to perform in the big league.
For Hocevar, this incredible feat became a reality with Spire’s decision. But the 20-year-old did not anticipate the ensuing debacle. The young racer is still completing his Truck stint with Niece Motorsports. Simultaneously, his Cup trysts with Spire Motorsports and Legacy Motor Club also produced loyal affiliations with those teams and team members. Two of whom are his playoff rivals in the battle for the Truck championship at the moment.
Fox journalist Bob Pockrass enquired about the sensitive dynamics with future Spire teammate Zane Smith. Carson Hocevar responded, “I think it?s more weird that I?m racing for Legacy [Motor Club] and I?m racing against Grant [Enfinger] at GMS. Honestly, that?s a little bit weird right now personally.”

However, at the end of the day, the excitement for future possibilities trumps the peculiarity of the situation. Hocevar explained, “But no, I haven?t looked at it a whole lot differently. It is pretty cool talking to them. Hearing a little bit more and having those relationships. Yeah super cool. Super cool that me and Zane get to go around and get a Cup car next year.”

As the #42 Chevrolet driver of Niece Motorsports, Carson Hocevar comfortably stood second in the points standings behind Bristol winner Corey Heim, GMS Racing’s Grant Enfinger was lingering three points below the cut-off line, whereas Zane Smith struggled in the 8th spot with 36 points required to crawl his way up the standings.

Considering the scenario, Carson Hocevar mused, “Zane [Smith] is in a must-win while Grant looks a little bit better to point in.” The rising star still insisted it doesn’t factor into their budding relationships. Hocevar reaffirmed, “But no, I haven?t looked at it like that. I may be playing to that a little bit. I talk to them a little bit more than I probably would have if not having those relationships.”

That does not mean he wasn’t hoping to race against Zane Smith in the Championship 4 race for the title. Hocevar quipped, “If he makes the final four, we can race for championship against each other and have a little bit of bragging rights by the time next year comes around.”?Although Smith’s playoff future remained uncertain, Spire Motorsports’ enthusiastic discovery, Carson Hocevar, might just grab the trophy on his way to the Cup season.
