The race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, although interrupted by the rain, affirmed one thing for sure: Ford Performance is still in the game. The blue oval simply roared back to life as the Ford teams went on to dominate the repaved tracks by winning the top 6 spots and 8 of the top 10 spots in qualifying in Atlanta.

There is no denying the fact that ford has always been the predominant force when it comes to being a successful OEM manufacturer, commanding the most number of victories and titles. With more than 800 victories, Chevrolet is undoubtedly the most successful manufacturer that NASCAR has ever witnessed. But can the performance of Ford be disregarded altogether owing to its past rendition on the track? Is Ford losing its essence?

Even Dale Earnhardt Jr seems to have high regard for the blue oval manufacturer as he discloses his stance and how the manufacturer can reclaim its glory in the latest episode of The Dale Jr. Download.

Dale Earnhardt Jr spills the beans on the performance of Ford in Atlanta

There have numerous instances where Ford drivers have struggled to get traction on the tracks, or have failed to find momentum and the drivers have been vocal in stating these problems. Nonetheless, it seems that there is light at the end of the tunnel as the Ford drivers occupied the front end of the grid for Quaker State 400, while the winningest manufacturer was seen struggling to keep its pace.

Leveraging on the fact, Dale Jr expressed, “The Fords were good. We go to qualifying in Atlanta this past weekend, there was only one Toyota in the top 10 and one Chevrolet in the top 15 and so Fords were fast and it looked like in the race, they were the ones, they had the most stability. The Ford has always known that it had drag on it.

“Now that suffer at the race track, we have seen their performances not been great only two wins this year. This was their chance and they missed the opportunity. I still feel that Ford gets it together, I don’t know how they overcome the challenges, aerodynamically or whatever the disadvantage.

I don’t believe that they will get the updates needed to fix any of those issues this year, but I don’t know man, I don’t count them out,” Junior asserted.

Rivalries are a common scenario among the teams as well as the manufacturers.  However, when the manufacturers miss out on favorable finishes, the teams often lose out on the edge of being successful competitors. And it seems that Ford due to its staggering nature, is failing to keep up with the other OEMs on the track.

Dale Jr said, “I have always thought that our sport has to have, the manufacturer competition has to matter. When we lose that Ford vs Chevy rivalry we lose pretty much something important that makes our races matter, and if it doesn’t matter to our fans then it won’t matter to the manufacturers and they will find no value to be here. So I like pumping that manufacturer’s competition, who’s ahead, who’s not, who is looking for speed, why are they behind?”

He exclaimed further, “But the opportunity to seize all wins during this year is running out and it would be interesting to see how Ford continues to move forward.”

“And what they are missing is so minuscule, the difference between them and where they are now is slightly behind and right on top of those guys is so small, it’s crazy. If they can find that on the shop floor and they are working hard it will be interesting,” Junior concluded.

While veterans like Dale Junior expressed their utmost faith in the blue Oval, it seems that the manufacturer has a long way to go and room for improvement and cap another championship.
