One of the last five races of the regular season has made its appearance. After a week of controversies and wrecks, NASCAR is set to host its second race at Richmond, ‘America’s Premier Short Tracks’. Looking at the past results from the ongoing season, it is certainly onerous to select a favorite driver for the race, although historically the track has been owned by Joe Gibbs Racing.
However, to juxtapose, it was the speedster of Hendrick Motorsports that had seized the chequered and clinched his first and only victory in the 2023 Cup Series season. Before gliding into the post-season, Spire Motorsports driver, Corey LaJoie, has set two drivers apart and has warned the grid against them in the latest episode of his podcast.

If one rewinds back to the last race at Richmond, back in April, it will be evident that it was the Hendrick Motorsports drivers who had dominated the D-shaped track and also went on to snatch the victory. The runner-up position was grabbed by Josh Berry, playing the role of a substitute driver for Chase Elliott. However, since then the speedster has been elusive of a victory and mired in on-track debacles, while the rival team Joe Gibbs Racing has earned more traction on the tracks with a number of victories coming from three different drivers.
Owing to the fact, Spire Motorsports driver Corey LaJoie sets his priorities straight, is apparent from the latest episode of his podcast Stacking Pennies. Speaking about the odds of the race and the probable drivers he thinks has a shot at winning, LaJoie expressed, “It’s gonna be super wide and we saw Loudon get wide and that place never gets wide and that place has no banking. We are gonna be from the bottom.”
“I think this weekend is really gonna be super interesting especially if this tire same one with the Loudon has the same tendencies, rubbered down makes the track slick and the track gets hot. And when it gets hot and slick it ain’t Martinsville, it’s Richmond.”
“That 11 car [Hamlin] is up there and he is particularly geared. Him and the 4 [Harvick] just finding those inches that light bit more right front turn, that couple of feet corner drive, the ability to straighten the wheel and keep wedging your way your left rear around the, to move your lane around, to change minimum speed, those two guys are best in the business unless somebody else brings something. They might be sleeping but it’s going to be. I love to see Harvick,” LaJoie added.

Speaking of Denny Hamlin, there is no denying the fact that the Joe Gibbs Racing driver would assuredly put his best foot forward, especially after his controversial win in the past week’s race at Pocono Raceway, and stretch his winning streak.
However, before taking his seat behind the wheel and compete for another podium finish, the No.11 Toyota driver tries to spill the beans on the probable cause of the wreck incident between him and Kyle Larson, which caused a whirlwind of controversies and backlash.

Hamlin in the pre-race interview at Richmond revealed the reasons behind the move he made in Pocono, “It is so different with the Next Gen because with the other car, the guy on the outside would use the air to make the guy on the inside loose. You’ll see in the Xfinity Series or the Truck Series, the guys on the outside want to get closer to the inside guy and get him loose […]
