In 2021, Brad Keselowski took a thrilling turn, slipping into the co-owner’s shoes at Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing. At the age of 39, not only is he steering the ship on the competition front, but the No. 6 Ford Mustang driver is also paving his path for the days when the race track would just be a fond memory for him.

With ownership of RFK Racing, he has been actively instilled in the world of investments. He owns a production and manufacturing unit, KAM (Keselowski Advanced Manufacturing), in Statesville, North Carolina, specializing in cutting-edge metal technologies and CNC machining. Yet the RFK Racing co-owner recently spilled the beans, confessing that a particular aspect of co-owning the RFK Racing team still catches him off guard and leaves him astounded.

Shifting gears from Team Penske to Roush Fenway Racing for Keselowski was a move that was similar to Tony Stewart teaming up with Gene Haas to form Stewart-Haas Racing. Following the trend, he became the second full-time driver in just two years to assemble his own team, joining the ranks of Denny Hamlin, who sparked 23XI Racing alongside basketball legend Michael Jordan.

Brad Keselowski teamed up with a two-time championship-winning crew. The horizon painted a picture of him and Henry leading the troupe as Roush daydreamed of his upcoming days of relaxation and retirement.

Flashback to 2021, when Brad Keselowski cheekily remarked, “I feel like I’m buying into a stock as it’s going up.” Little did he know the rollercoaster of financial surprises awaiting him, even with his past experience owning a truck team. In a heart-to-heart chat with Racing America’s finest, RFK Racing’s co-owner was quizzed about any eyebrow-raising moments since his ownership.

Chuckling, Brad recounted the astonishment of beholding some staggering bills, he exclaimed, “You go to the tire bill (from Goodyear); you’re like, $70,000. Like, how many did we buy? Every bill that you see, you look at it, and you go—that can’t be, that can’t be right, that can’t be right. And yet it has changed for me where you’re like, That can’t be right.” But it was, and it changed his perspective completely.

Adding a pinch of humor, Brad Keselowski also shared his bewilderment over a team dinner’s whopping $5,000 tab, playfully wondering if they had ordered gold-plated steaks! Given the hefty investments and commitment he has shown towards the team, it’s no surprise that the 39-year-old now finds himself in the captain’s chair, steering his team with advice on the racetrack’s dos and don’ts.

Brad Keselowski, already a two-time victor at Martinsville, is probably itching to climb the ranks from his 24th-place standing in the spring race. With an impressive average finish of 12.5 at Martinsville and 12 top-five finishes in 17 starts, Keselowski knows his way around this track. While RFK boasts a robust legacy at Martinsville—four Cup wins and a whopping 24 victories on short tracks in the NASCAR Cup Series—Buescher’s record is a tad modest. With a single top-10 finish at Martinsville and a recent 14th-place standing in the spring race, he’s got some ground to cover.

And now, with Chris Buescher tailgating the last spot in the round of 8 playoff leaderboard, Keselowski didn’t mince words, saying: “Chris has done a heck of a job all year, but he has got his work cut out for him. You know, he’s got two tracks in front of him that I think he would tell you aren’t his favorites. And we need some really strong runs or a win. So, we are giving him everything we got, he’s giving everything he’s got, and we are excited for the opportunity. But this is top-level motorsports, and we are trying to be the best at it, and it ain’t going to be easy.”
