Earlier this month, NASCAR announced that Machine Gun Kelly would perform at the LA Coliseum before the race. While the reaction has been mixed, the stock car racing series is trying to top that. This time, the next act is a more familiar face, Trackhouse Racing co-owner and rap sensation, Pitbull. The Florida native will be gracing home soil as he is expected to perform ahead of the 2024 Daytona 500.

The 43-year-old has been passionate about NASCAR, and only recently did something about it. Specifically, he partnered with Justin Marks to establish Trackhouse Racing in 2021 with Daniel Suarez at the wheel. Since then, the organization has gone from strength to strength, especially after roping in Ross Chastain. Aside from that, the team has also embarked on several bold projects, most of which are bearing fruit.

Since 2022, the team have been running an ambitious project in the NASCAR Cup series. Aside from its two full-time rides, Trackhouse Racing announced that they would field a third car, dubbed ‘Project 91’. Over here, the organisation invites a non-NASCAR driver and gives them a chance to compete in a couple of races. The project started off with a bang when 2007 F1 champion Kimi Raikkonen was recruited.

Later on, Project 91 discovered an untapped gem of a driver, and his name is Shane van Gisbergen. The Kiwi driver enjoyed a NASCAR Cup Series debut from heaven, when he triumphed in his first race. To prove that that was no flash in the pan, he followed that result with a Top 10 at the Indianapolis Road Course. Now, van Gisbergen will be back in 2024, but in another Trackhouse-backed car, while someone else will drive the #91 car.

Last year, Justin Marks and Pitbull embarked on another ambitious project. They took over the remains of the RNF Racing MotoGP team and rebranded it to Trackhouse MotoGP. Riders Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez have been retained and the team’s official launch is on the 27th of January.

Back in 2023, Ross Chastain mounted a strong challenge for the championship, but fell short. Meanwhile, Daniel Suarez endured a rough campaign that year and finished down in a lowly 19th place. This time around, both drivers will be highly motivated, and the team have also been busy in the off season.

Firstly, they managed to recruit Matt Swiderski from Kaulig Racing, to be Suarez’s crew chief. Secondly, they signed a number of sponsors for the upcoming season, like Wendy’s, and also signed an up and coming driver. With all of this considered, one should not underestimate the hard work being put in by the team for the coming campaign.
