Denny Hamlin has been at the fore of NASCAR for 18 seasons now. He started his career with Joe Gibbs Racing, and still continues to race for the outfit – a match made in heaven!
He hasn’t just competed, but also has churned out outstanding performances consistently. His record makes his case even stronger. In his close to 600 races since his debut, he has amassed 48 wins. Moreover, in the last 17 seasons, he has only had one winless season, i.e. 2018. That is an outstanding record and a testament to his talent and ability.
While the driver is yet to win a Cup Series, he has come close quite a few times. His best finish was in 2nd place when he lost the Cup Series to Jimmie Johnson in 2010. He has also secured multiple 3rd and 4th place finishes.
Hamlin, possibly now in the twilight of his career, has also diversified his interests in NASCAR. He founded a team alongside Michael Jordan in 2020 – 23XI Racing. The newly formed team finished its 2nd season in the Cup Series this year.
While it is still early days for the team, one can see that a foundation is being built and it wouldn’t be too far into the future when they could challenge for the Cup Series as serious contenders.
