NASCAR’s finest driver ever, Kevin Harvick’s retirement, is certainly a big loss the sport has incurred in a long time. The 2014 Cup Series champion did shower the fans with some of the most memorable moments in NASCAR history, and by the looks of it, he is not going away from the beloved sport. Thankfully, we will be able to see a lot of Harvick in NASCAR as he takes up the role of analyst at Fox Sports in 2024.

With a career that spanned over 20 years, it is only a given that statistics would chase an icon like Kevin Harvick. He has a total of 60 NASCAR Cup Series wins and ranks 10th in the all-time wins list. This is just scratching the surface when speaking statistics on Harvick’s NASCAR career, but interestingly, after his retirement, he shared a unique stat with one of the greats of the sport, Jeff Gordon, and this one was interesting, to say the least.

It was 0.06 seconds, the finest of the margins involved in deciding the winner at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2001. The words, ‘Harvick by inches, Harvick by inches’ sure sound like it was just yesterday as he claimed his first Cup Series win, beating who else but Jeff Gordon.

A NASCAR statistic geek compared Jeff Gordon and Harvick’s first and last wins. In doing so, it was found that, surprisingly, both racers had exactly 7,826 days in between their first and last Cup Series wins. The stat was shared by Trey Ryan via his social media handle on X. “Interesting Stat: Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick’s 1st and last win came exactly 7,826 days apart.”

Jeff Gordon registered his first Cup Series win on May 29, 1994, at Charlotte Motor Speedway and his last at Martinsville Speedway on November 1, 2015. Gordon certainly has the edge against Kevin Harvick when speaking in terms of championships, but the former Stewart-Haas Racing driver can always flex on his win against the four-time champ.
