So far, in the 2022 NASCAR Cup season has not been too kind to Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing. After a fine 2nd place at the Daytona 500, most of his performances have been up and down. In fact, he has only finished in the Top 20 on three occasions. Admittedly, his team owner, Denny Hamlin, has not been too thrilled about the poor results.

Speaking about his form, Wallace said, “Surprised I got teeth left. Many times I’ve been kicked down these last few weeks, but that’s part of racing. You never know what to expect until it happens. It can be really good, it can be really bad sometimes. That’s why you just kind of manage your expectations. I was told, never let the highs get too high and the lows get too low. Just kind of ride the wave, whatever happens, happens, but you always show up, ready to play.”

Can Bubba Wallace turn his season around?
Theoretically speaking, he is definitely capable of going up the order. His win at Talladega last year was proof that he can win races. He only reinforced that with his second-place finish at the Daytona 500. Unfortunately, things have not been going his way ever since. Luckily, the season is long and there is plenty of time to pick up the slack and forge ahead.

All that he needs to do is just get a win, and that will guarantee a playoff berth. So far, his best career finish was 21st in the 2021 season. If he manages to sneak into the Playoffs, it will already be a career-best for the African-American driver. He will also be acutely aware that he is acting as a role model for future African-American NASCAR drivers. So, if Bubba Wallace can find some amount of success this season or in the near future, it will help his career prospects.
