Can Kyle Busch's Olympic dreams reignite his NASCAR career, or is it too late for a comeback?

The Olympic break might have been frustrating for many teams and fans, but for some, it was highly needed. At the Indy 500, Kyle Busch finished 25 after a crash during a battle with Denny Hamlin. The Richard Childress Racing driver spun out on Turn 3 and ended up in the outside wall. While Busch was not seriously injured, he did not walk out of that without a scratch.

Rowdy injured his left wrist in the crash, as he explained that in the new cars, you “snap the wheel and snap your wrist.” According to him, it was the next-gen car that was to blame for his injury. However, things worked out in his favor, as that happened to be the last race before the Paris Olympics. He did not just recover from physical injuries but is also likely to have returned to a good mental state as Kyle Busch and his family were on a trip to Italy. Thanks to Samantha Busch; Kyle Busch fans were all up-to-date throughout their trip.

But we hope they are all well-rested, especially Kyle Busch, as NASCAR reaches Richmond for the Cup Weekend. Why rest up? The Busch family due to back-to-back flight cancellations had to take the road and drive for 30 hours. But it was Samantha and her father who drove; giving Kyle’s wrist more time to heal.

Although Kyle Busch made it clear that he hasn’t broken his wrist, the pressure for him to make it into the playoffs is on. With just 4 races left before the playoffs, it’s more of a now-or-never situation for Busch. It was unfortunate that he got his wrist sprained, but in the end, he used the 2-week break from NASCAR to just recover.

According to Motorsport.com, Kyle Busch also stated, “Without two weeks off, I would not have been able to race. I’m good. I’m pretty good now.” This is great news for RCR because it restores the hopes of fans who want to see the No. 8 Camaro driver in the playoffs.

During the qualifiers, despite his injury, Kyle Busch managed to pull off a P12 start, which is not ideal, but it will have to do. Austin Dillon, on the other hand, made it into the final round of qualifying and will start the race at P6. Following the qualifiers, Busch spoke about his run as he said, “Yeah, I mean, we unloaded well here.” While the qualifiers went well, the main event remains, and Kyle Busch has his mind prepared.

How does Kyle Busch feel about the Federated Auto Parts 400?

“We felt good balance, and you know, decent speed,” said Kyle Busch when it came to giving his review of the qualifiers. With Richmond giving teams an option tire, he analyzed the difference between them, saying, “There is definitely a balance difference between the two sets of tires. That was probably our biggest thing, and that was our biggest struggle.”

Hopefully, by the time the race starts, the team will have a good idea of which compound they should go with. Busch also spoke about his teammate making it into the top 10 before comparing his strategy with Denny Hamlin’s. Taking the blame on himself, he concluded, saying, “But I messed up just a little bit, so I didn’t quite get that.”
