The Door Bumper Clear podcast is pretty well-known in NASCAR circles. So it would not be surprising if the NASCAR drivers themselves listen to it. Of course, there will be times when drivers are name-dropped and criticized for some wrong that they have committed. A prime example of this is JR Motorsports driver Noah Gragson, who intentionally triggered a multi-car wreck. Owing to this, spotter Freddie Kraft talked about when Gragson had issues with their criticism.

He said, “I’ve had this come up again this week, me and TJ both kind of got this. Some people have come up and complained, you know how in the past when people know one of them. They’re like ‘Hey, why you talking trash about me on your show?’ I told Noah, just like I told this person on Saturday, ‘Listen, we don’t make anything up 0n this show. We don’t make up situations and call people an idiot’. I told Noah to his face, ‘We’ll stop talking about the dumb sh*t you do when you stop doing dumb sh*t’. If you don’t want any attention on you, stop doing dumb sh*t, we’ll have nothing to say.”

What else did he say about Noah Gragson?

The spotter insisted that the advice was not restricted to Gragson, but applied to racers from different disciplines. At the end of the day, if drivers do not like the negative press, then they should not add fuel to the fire. A prime example of this is when responding to people booing them. The likes of George Russell have confessed that they have been rattled by people booing him.

Griffin believes that F1 drivers need thicker skin if they let the boos get to them. He wonders how a driver in an elite sport like F1 can survive if they let something like displeased fans mess up their confidence and focus.
