It seems like being a consistent race car driver runs in the Busch family. As Kyle Busch is tearing it up in the Cup Series with Richard Childress Racing, his son, Brexton Busch has been dominating in the lower leagues of American motorsports. In a recent interview, Busch spoke about how he was looking to get his son into the leagues with the older kids as he felt that’s where Brexton’s talents can be better tested. Last year, Brexton ran the beginner box class and won at Wisconsin and only just missed out on the victory at Iowa.

Busch’s confidence in his son shows just how good a racer Brexton already is at just eight years old. Speaking to the press at the pre-race interview at the Michigan International Speedway, Kyle Busch was asked the reason why he was looking to move Brexton up a division. The former NASCAR Cup Series champion said that he was looking to get his son into Millbridge which, according to him, has the best competition. If Brexton can win at Millbridge, he can win anywhere, according to his father.

When Busch was asked if Brexton had exhausted the division and it was time for a new challenge, he said, “So the Midwest swing is what we call it, that’s what we’re on, and when we go to some of these places with as competitive as Millbridge is – Millbridge is cadet class, is basically their beginner box class anywhere else. So last year we ran the beginner box class and we won at Wisconsin, we should have won at Iowa, but we got put on the berm with two to go.” [sic]

He added, “So, I figured this year if he wants to – to kind of step up and move up to the older kids’ class and run with the older kids – cause that’s more so his grouping of talent with the other kids in the Midwest,” [sic]

He would go on to say that the best kids race at Millbridge and that they would bump up Brexton’s division once they went out of town.

“I don’t know if they just don’t race as much or what but the competition at Millbridge is the highest anywhere. If you can win at Millbridge you can win anywhere. I’ve had multiple dads tell me that and it’s true, so, I feel like the best kids in the country are there and when we go out of town, we’ll bump up a class.”

Kyle Busch is someone who has come up through in the initial years of his long and illustrious career. He is a master behind the wheel and a highly consistent racer. When on track, Busch does not like to be distracted and he did feel a bit annoyed when fellow Cup Series driver Joey Logano tried to speak to him during the Superstar Racing Experience race on Thursday.

Logano was in the commentary booth with SRX commentator Allen Bestwick when he decided to chime in on Busch’s radio to ask him a few questions about his race. Busch was not too pleased.

“Kyle Busch, Joey Logano up in the booth you got me here,” said Logano.

“Yeah, little busy,” came the reply from Busch.

Logano would then go on to ask a question as Busch was under pressure from a car behind and the veteran racer would end up cussing out his fellow NASCAR driver.

“You know, hearing you on my radio, it’s f*****g lighting a fire under my a**,” Busch said later on which made Logano and Bestwick laugh. Despite the distractions, Busch was able to take the lead on lap 74 and hold on for the win. It served as a nice pre-cursor to the Cup Series race at Michigan.

With three wins under his belt, Rowdy has already secured his place in the playoffs, but a win would be more than welcome thanks to the playoff points it brings with it. Busch will be starting eighth on the grid on Sunday and will be hoping to have a strong performance.
