Since its introduction in 2021, the SRX series has garnered significant support and enthusiasm from fans. Building on the success of its previous seasons, the series is now gearing up for an expanded schedule of six races in 2023.
The opening race took place at Standford Speedway, featuring a star-studded lineup of 12 drivers, including Hailee Deegan, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, and Denny Hamlin. As promised, the race was action-packed, delivering intense moments and heart-stopping maneuvers. However, the conclusion of the race didn’t unfold as fans had expected.

Hailie Deegan outshines NASCAR legends at SRX
Despite inclement weather forcing the race to be shortened, Hailee Deegan showcased her skills and secured an impressive fifth position. With numerous prominent NASCAR stars in attendance, a reporter asked her after the race, “Do you think you impressed any of them?”
In response, Hailee humbly stated, “I hope, I mean we’re cool with each other, I’m not trying to show off or anything. These guys are like, at the end of the day, they’re people, they’re people and having those conversations and just hanging out and building those relationships, I mean, that’s more important.”
During the interview, Hailee also expressed her gratitude towards her team for their collaborative efforts. She was delighted with her clean racing performance and the remarkable finish she achieved. Additionally, she shared her perspective regarding the presence of prominent figures in NASCAR, saying, “At this point, you got the top guys in literally the top series in American Racing, the best drivers in America are racing this year, so it’s definitely got a lot harder than when I first started.”

During the race at Nashville, an unfortunate incident occurred when Hailie Deegan and Lawless Alan collided on the track, resulting in their elimination. Alan’s initial reaction to the incident was mixed, as he first said, “She got lost” and then he said, “I don’t think there’s much to say, she’s talentless, she just sailed it off in there and wrecked me, like it’s lap block 3…it’s not the first time she’s wrecked me, umm she does it to fucking everybody.”
However, Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, came to the defense of the young driver. He stated, “There’s nobody out there that’s talentless. Maybe there are some that are more talented than others.”
It is undeniable that Hailie Deegan is a talented driver, which is evident from her ability to compete with top-class drivers from NASCAR and her commendable performance in completing a clean race.
