Michael McDowell is seen performing the ‘Lose Yourself’ track from 8mile with a fun-loving persona. The Instagram video post has McDowell rapping a verse on which he drops a comment saying, “People that know me, know I was a lyrical gangster from 1990-2005. Beyond 2005 I am clueless, unless it’s Christian rap.” The race car driver claims to have a fun side to his personality, which fans are not aware of. Thoroughly rapping the most famous motivational track towards success on Spire’s page, he implied how he prefers old-school hip-hop rap dated before 2005. McDowell and his quirky playfulness have not been under the spotlight, the post also stated “Bet you didn’t know @mc_driver was like that”.
“His arms are heavy there’s vomit on his sweater already mom’s spaghetti, he’s nervous but looks calm and ready to drop bombs, but he keeps on forgetting what he wrote down the old crowd grows so loud, he opens his mouth but the words won’t come out, and choke him out everybody’s joking now, Time’s up, over blow snap back to reality oh there goes rabbit,” he rapped along in the video.

Veteran back in 2017 was seen lip-syncing at the Pocono fan fest to the same track, in front of an audience. It was sensational to watch the driver’s stage presence which radiated energy, making fans scream for him just as they do for rockstars. Well, McDowell did try to bring this talent to good use while featuring in an advertising campaign that involved his dialogues to rhyme. In the advert he says different rhymes that go along with the brand CarParts.com, airing back in May 2021. The fresh Spire Motorsport recruit has a hard time getting the words right for car parts, but hey he tried his best.
But it looks like this time around he was given the free hand by Spire Motorsports and he certainly dropped some good bars. And the fans just couldn’t believe what they were witnessing.

It is a tough ask for any NASCAR driver to make time to work on their passion project. It’s evident that McDowell is rough around the edges with his rapping skills, but he’s done a good job of being in sync with his off-track passion project. Now we are accustomed to hearing NASCAR stars being bestowed with titles based on their personalities and racing traits. But McDowell seems to have taken the cake as the rap star of the NASCAR Cup Series garage. “Rap star.”
The 2021 Daytona 500 winner has managed to stay afloat in the Cup Series despite multiple challenges and curve balls thrown his way. His stint with FRM certainly added to his credentials and was crucial to paving the way for his bold move to Spire Motorsports. But, it is just hard for some fans to believe that the 40-year-old can rap apart from mastering his skills as a race car driver. “Wasn’t familiar with his game.”
It is indeed hard to trust anything and everything we see online these days, thanks to AI. There is a possibility that McDowell rapping the lyrics of the Lose Yourself song could be tailored by an AI website or user. “Is this ai,” another fan wrote on Instagram. But given the evidence on hand and this coming directly from Spire Motorsports was evidence enough that McDowell can indeed rap.
