After an eventful Wurth 400 at the Dover Motor Speedway, NASCAR Cup Series is coming back to Kansas! With this week’s race at the iconic Kansas Speedway, the broadcasters are doing everything in their power to hype up the event. And as part of its initiative, lately, NASCAR Race Hub has been taking things to the next level with unique coverages and head-to-head stats for drivers.

Recently, the popular tv program had an interesting episode with the self-proclaimed “crew chief of the people,” Larry McReynolds, pitting Kyle Busch against the 23Xl Racing driver, Bubba Wallace. Surprisingly, the pundit sided with Wallace as the veteran picked the #23 driver over Busch for Kansas.

While the community was bewildered to see the veteran crew chief pick Wallace over this season’s Talladega winner, fans were also quick enough to share their thoughts on the matter.

The racing pundit gives arguments in favor of Bubba Wallace

For a majority of fans, the sheer thought of the veteran picking Wallace—who’s been struggling to maintain his form—over the 2x Cup Series champion may seem far-fetched. But the 62-year-old veteran has been around the NASCAR grid for a long time now, and with age comes perspective. As he picked Wallace, he revealed the points that can favor the 29-year-old over the more experienced Busch.

Joining his co-host and former NASCAR driver, David Ragan, and the anchor on the studio floor, McReynolds laid out his point, mentioning the 23Xl Racing driver’s impressive run last year at the Vegas track. Citing the “dominating” run of Wallace, Larry McReynolds also shared the sweet spot that has the driver well set for the upcoming race.

As soon as the anchor popped the head-to-head segment between Wallace and Busch, the analyst quickly responded, Well, I’m gonna go with Bubba Wallace.”

He furthered his point, citing last season’s incidents, David talked about his run that he had at Las Vegas early this year.

“And yeah, we keep saying, Vegas and Kansas—Goodyear even runs the same tire combination. But you go back to last year … so solid there, top 10 in the spring; Not only won, but dominated the end of that race there in the fall.

“No doubt, Bubba Wallace. Maybe this is where they can get that ship riding.”

Even fellow expert David agreed with McReynolds, saying that Wallace is high on confidence, as was evident from the radio chatter of Wallace’s crew chief, Bootie Barker.

However, despite their claims of Bubba Wallace being a solid competitor, strongly backing him for his previous runs in Kansas, the NASCAR community isn’t impressed by the veteran’s takeaway. Evidently, given Wallace’s disappointing performances so far this season, a majority of fans just can’t accept the idea.

Bubba Wallace has shown promise in speedways in the past, and he was at the front of the pack in the final laps of the race in Talladega. However, he failed miserably to take home his first win off this season, crashing out of the race in the final lap while the Richard Childress Racing driver took the checkered.

Moreover, in the points table, Kyle Busch is 8th with 306 points, having already scored two wins. Meanwhile, Wallace is way down the table with only 216 points. Hence, when the experts on the show favored Wallace over Busch, fans did not hesitate to show their disagreement with the odd analogy, brutally roasting Wallace and penning their thoughts.

“Bubba Wallace and Kyle Bush should never be in the same sentence. I hate them both, but I respect Kyle Bush. The man is an amazing driver.”

Another fan trolled Bubba Wallace, mentioning his awful 2023 season, Bubba only has 2 more wins than me. Also, I’ve never drove a race car…”

While someone else wrote, “Bubba Wallace needs to learn to behave when he isn’t winning. Looks like a kid in a tantrum.”

One of the fans had a plain opinion to express: “Bubba is the worst driver in the field.”

While another fan defended Wallace, asking a valid question, “All the ppl hating are ignoring the fact that Bubba won the race last fall and had one of the best cars in the spring and probably would’ve won that race too if his pit crew doesn’t have two penalties?”
