During the post-race interview, Gibbs stated, “You know we have a very fast Toyota Supra, I feel like we were good, we just into a weird restart line but when the three guys stayed out, I just took the wrong line. I thought it was the right line and it wasn’t and then we went back racing and off the four I made contact with Justin. I feel like I hit the wall hard than I did, and I didn’t.”

“I got mad and hit him on the door and the stupid part is it hurt my car more than it did to his. I feel like his cars are okay but, they’re gonna have to put a door when they get back to the shop. It’s inexcusable for me and I’m very disappointed in my actions and I apologize to them.”

“I thought it was worse honestly than it was and then I watched it on and it wasn’t so. I apologize to Jason, Justin, Dale, and the whole seven group. I just can’t be doing that stuff and it was my fault.”

NASCAR fans slam the apology given by Ty Gibbs

Fans, however, did not seem to accept his apology as they compared him to the likes of Cup series driver Ross Chastain.

Fans stated, “Ty Says the same thing every time he makes a bonehead move like he did today. And it crazy how NBC has crammed Ty down the race fans this year and it’s hurting their coverage and Dave burns doesn’t do very well in the booth!!”

“With the last name Gibbs what would you expect. Grandpa will fix it.”

“Sounds a lot like Chastain, can’t control his own actions.”

“He’s just like Ross Crapstain. Oh boo hoo for me I’m so disappointed in my actions. I should be better but oops I do dumb stuff, oh no.”
