It’s interesting how a good amount of sports personalities try their hands at Golf. There is some sort of synergy that athletes have with golf. But not everyone is great at it, and this was more prominent than ever in 2014, when Charles Barkley’s swing went viral. And it just became a long-standing meme in the sporting world since then.
Although, the former NBA player has since improved his swing. The joke carries on.

Interestingly, this joke went on to the 2020 Musial Awards, when Bubba Wallace was in conversation with the CBS Sports commentator, James Brown. And the iconic NFL commentator said, “I’m smiling about the prototypical Michael Jordan who tells you- ‘Good luck, make sure you get Charles Barkley in that foursome because you will definitely finish better than him’. That is the ugliest looking swing, and you can tell him that, that I have ever seen in a golf course.”
Funny enough, Wallace also said he had to agree, even though he apologized to the former NBA player, “I’ve seen it before and I think I have to agree with you there. So, sorry there Charles Barkley, but everyone knows it.”

Well, a few days before this happened, a news channel published a speculative article about him and Jordan buying a stake in a NASCAR team. Somehow, that article stuck around in Hamlin’s mind, but he never shared it. Fortunately, he was in good relations with the NBA legend at the time.
So, the JGR driver was in his house, playing golf, and decided to send that article to him, “I’ll never forget, I was on the ninth hole of my home golf course and I was like, ‘Should I send Michael this article? Let me get his temperature here,'” Hamlin said. “And I sent it to him and he responded immediately, says ‘Haha, obviously fake news, not real, but if you want to make it real news let me know?'”
