All eyes are going to be on Rowdy’s 2025 season. And surely all Kyle Busch fans and Busch himself would want to forget 2024. He went winless and had an average finish of 18.31. And that’s Busch’s worst Cup performance since 2005 (his first season). And not just an average finish, he got just 5 top-5s and 10 top-10s – his lowest ever. Even in his rookie years, he had more than this.

Overall, the season ended in a P20 for the #8 driver. But still, Busch is the winningest active driver (63) in the Cup Series. The all-time winningest driver in the Xfinity Series (102) and the Truck Series (66). Even if he retires tomorrow, he will still be one of the sport’s greatest drivers. But one thing that might hurt is losing that win streak, and nothing can get it back!

Kyle Busch opens up on his win streak!

Since his debut full season in the Cup Series, Kyle Busch had never gone winless in a season. Entering 2025, the record could have been 20 and counting had he bagged a win last season! And it’s not like he did not have the opportunity. Remember the Coke Zero Sugar 400? Rookie Harrison Burton held off a desperate Busch on the final turn. The #8 had to be satisfied with a P2. And in the very next race in Darlington, Chase Briscoe bravely defended and Busch again got P2. That was probably the last chance he came close enough to maintain the streak.

Recently in a NASCAR Live podcast episode, Busch was asked about his thoughts on the streak. To which he replied, “It’s over, it’s done. It’s 19, that’s the record. Somebody go get it. That’s basically how I look at it. I’m not starting a new one cause I’m not gonna be around for another 19. So there’s no sense in saying that we are starting anything new. But it does just sort of give you a sour taste in your mouth. That I wasn’t able to continue.”

And speaking of streaks, Kyle Busch also broke his streak of always making the playoffs since the format was introduced in 2014. However, for now, he would probably look to return to winning form more than anything. And he is!

But according to him, that will just be a constant reminder of missing out on the streak. “We need a win. We need to be in victory lane, we gotta win on Sundays. It’s going to be bittersweet when we win in 2025, that we didn’t do it in 2024, and that the streak isn’t now 21. But I think it is what it is and we move on.”

But we feel there is still plenty for him to look forward to. Busch has all the crown jewels except for the Daytona 500. He won the Southern 500 in 2008, the Coca-Cola 600 in 2018, and twice the Brickyard 400 (2015, 2016).

What’s your perspective on:

Can Kyle Busch's 20th Daytona 500 attempt finally break his winless streak and silence the critics?

Have an interesting take?

Maybe to not feel so bad about the streak, the #8 team could aim for the Daytona 500 win.

Can Kyle Busch finally win the Daytona 500?

The Daytona 500 race has not been kind to Busch. In the 19 starts, he’s only managed 3 top 5s and 5 top 10s. The closest he came to a win was in 2019 when Denny Hamlin took the checkered flag. And for 2025, winning the Daytona 500 is on Busch’s list. Of course, it will be!

Recently, in a conversation with NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace, Busch revealed, “Daytona 500 obviously is top of the list. That is obviously number 1. I wanna be able to win the Daytona 500 and have that accomplishment checked off. That is the last box essentially that is empty.”

This would be Busch’s 20th attempt, and it could actually be his year to win! In NASCAR, history often repeats itself. Maybe Busch can repeat what Dale Earnhardt Sr. did in 1998. He too was struggling to get that elusive Daytona 500 win. And on his 20th attempt, he finally bagged the Harley J. Earl Trophy. If Busch does it too, the only difference would be the car number.

And that’s not all on Busch’s 2025 resolutions list. “Adding to the already checked boxes, you wanna win the Coke 600 again, you wanna win the All-Star race and another championship,” He added. Maybe while he’s planning to win the 600 again, he could also join Kyle Larson for the ‘Double.’ Let’s hope the 2025 season will get going for the RCR driver. Maybe a 3rd title is coming!
