It’s no surprise that all the NASCAR community can think about is the “Video Game Move” Ross Chastain pulled at Martinsville. The ‘watermelon man’ really showed a perfect example of a show-stopper finish in stock car racing. But the 2021 Cup Series Champion, Kyle Larson, wasn’t thrilled by it.
But Kevin Harvick came in to call out his contradiction, as he praised the Trackhouse Racing driver for his attitude.

Chastain’s “whatever it takes” attitude might not be everyone’s favorite. And Larson was quite vocal about it, too. First, though, let’s talk about the move.
Well, Chastain was sitting in 9th position before the white flag was waved. However, knowing the kind of driver he is, he didn’t want to accept the idea of being eliminated from the playoffs. So he did the unthinkable as he floored the throttle and rode the wall and let centrifugal force carry him five positions up and finish 4th, ahead of Denny Hamlin, effectively keeping him relevant at Phoenix.
Clearly a “do or die” move, but he had nothing to lose, so he went with it, and his attempt is commendable. And Kevin Harvick gave credit where it was due.
Like the move or not very few have to guts to do WHATEVER it takes in the moment. Some talk and some actually do it. #EPIC https://t.co/wTQN8WpzMG

He sure isn’t wrong about that. But there is one person who did have the guts to do it. Yet, he called out the Trackhouse Racing driver for doing exactly what he did.
Kyle Larson called out on his ‘hypocrisy’ as Ross Chastain repeats his move
Larson was quite vocal about his distaste for the move.
He said, “I think that’s not a good look for our sport. I don’t know what you guys think, probably think it’s cool, but it was pretty embarrassing,” he emphasized.

When questioned why he thought it was a bad look for NASCAR, Larson questioned back, “Why do you think it’s a good look?”
However, Larson has done the same thing himself.

Last years southern 500 saw Larson ride the wall to take 2nd place. But he is aware, as he called Chastain’s move embarrassing, “Yeah, I’m a bit, I don’t know, embarrassed that I did because that was pretty embarrassing honestly,”
Do you think it’s fair for the 2021 Cup Series Champion to call out a driver for doing exactly what he himself did?
