Austin Cindric’s victory by 7.108 seconds over second-placed Brandon Jones at Daytona Road Course in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race does not quite tell you the real story. It was an eventful race with crashes, wrecks, cautions, and heated moments between the drivers. The winner Cindric himself had a difficult race, he later expressed.
It was the first experience on the Daytona Road Course for many, and the drivers had to figure out what to do when they actually had to do it. A lot of cars wrecked right from the beginning and throughout the race. The new chicane coming off the final turn caused problems, and many drivers went spinning and were forced into a complete halt. To make things more challenging, the race was run in damp conditions after a delayed start to the race due to rain and lightning.

Multi-car wreckage
The biggest incident of the race was a multi-car contact on the restart with just eight laps remaining. Multiple drivers rushed into the first turn after the restart and drifted wide off the track after hitting the brakes late. The chaos included Chase Briscoe, who won the second stage and led the race for many laps. He ran into AJ Allmendinger’s car, was pressed by another car, and then went off the course. Briscoe’s race ended there, and he finished 29th. There was damage to Allmendinger’s car as well, but he finished fourth.

Eventful NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona
Earlier, Briscoe was also involved in an incident with race winner Austin Cindric as well. Briscoe caught him in the chicane off the last turn and Cindric was unhappy. He then pulled up next to Briscoe during the caution and threw a water bottle at him. Justin Allgaier and Allmendinger were also involved in a crash. Allgaier then had a pit road run-in with Allmendinger after the race and words were exchanged.
