In what was a year of uncertainty, Jimmie Johnson has deservedly won the 2020 NMPA Myers Brothers Award. The accolade recognizes groups and individuals who have delivered some outstanding contributions to stock car racing through their careers.
Therefore, it is only quite right that a fine NASCAR icon like Jimmie Johnson is the recipient of this edition of the award. The former Hendrick Motorsports No.48 this year also declared his retirement from the sport.
Johnson is quoted as saying, “I appreciate it, buddy, it’s such an honor. As I said a minute ago, it is such an honor and to grow up watching you (Chocolate Myers) over the wall, doing your job. I was strong enough racing to know your family’s involvement in this sport and all the contributions they made.”

Johnson continued and said, “And to now be a recipient of this very coveted award is so meaningful to me and my family. I shared with my wife that I won the award. And she was so upset that we weren’t at the banquet receiving it in person.”
“Because again it’s always been such a touching moment at the banquet. And it is always been so meaningful to any recipient and very much there for me. And I hate that I’m not in person with you right now celebrating it,” concluded Johnson.
