The longtime Joe Gibbs Racing teammates have turned into rivals. But amidst their banter-filled exchanges, an unexpected twist unfolded during a recent SRX race in Berlin. As Kyle Busch attempted to overtake Brad Keselowski for the lead, Joey Logano playfully tried to help his rival as a spotter.
On lap 39, Kyle Busch was trying to make his move to take the lead from Brad Keselowski. While Joey was talking to Busch at the time, Brazilian driver Helio Castroneves swooped in and snatched the second-place spot from Kyle. The latter couldn’t help but admire the way Joey expertly played the role of his spotter, expressing his frustration over losing the position.

As the intense battle unfolded between Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano playfully dubbed it a “cat and mouse game,” which left Kyle feeling a mix of surprise and frustration when he heard Joey’s voice on the radio. The Richard Childress driver even blamed the Penske driver for losing a spot due to his radio chatter.
During the pre-race interview at FireKeepers Casino 400, when presser asked “What went through in your head when you heard his voice on the radio?”
Kyle Busch replied, “What the hell? That was probably the first thing but you know after that I don’t even remember what asked but you know we were kind of in a little cat and mouse game I guess that’s what he brought up with Brad, and just kind of trying to figure out how hard to push and what to do at the point of the race but knowing there was still couple of cautions coming you just kind of you are trying to take care of your stuff and pace yourself.”
He continued, “That’s right when Helio was about to go in the front and take the lead so he knows me and got by me so thankfully, Joey was on my radio so it was his fault I lost the spot.”
However, Kyle seemed to appreciate the camaraderie, wishing Joey had returned to guide him during later restarts and playfully suggesting that he could have used Joey’s spotter skills during those moments.

Joey Logano made a joking offer to be Kyle Busch’s spotter on the radio and asked about Kyle’s tactics, particularly in his cat-and-mouse game with Brad Keselowski. when Kyle Busch overheard Joey Logano’s voice on the radio saying, “Kyle Busch, Joey Logano up in the booth, you got me here.”
“Yeah, a little busy,” Busch replied.
Joey asked, “I could help spot you along, but what I want to know is how hard are you pushing that thing right now. You play the little cat mouse with Brad (Keselowski) out there. How much you got left?”

“Yeah, definitely a little cat-mouse. Right now you’re just trying to modulate your gap, but you know, hearing you on my radio, that f*king lights the fire under my a*,” Busch replied.

Kyle Busch was able to get in the lead and get home with back-to-back victories in the Tony Stewart-owned racing series. In fact, Joey’s radio chatter seemed to be a game-changer, as no one could surpass Kyle Busch after the radio exchange.
