The NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway is living up to its billing. Many experts and pundits had predicted fuel mileage racing to make its return after the Daytona 500, and all of it came true this weekend. With the end of Stages 1 and 2, the drivers have barely had a go at each other and resorted to saving fuel. Apart from the late push at the end of stages, nothing head-turning seemed to have happened so far.
Hence, owing to the rather uneventful race, NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass took to X in a bid to keep the fans entertained.

Taking note of the boring state of the race, Pockrass took a sarcastic jibe at NASCAR on what was causing the saving race. He suggested that the drivers weren’t aware of other each other’s positions or speed after the old pylon was removed ahead of the event. “I don’t know why y’all hatin’ on the fuel mileage racing. They’re just trying to go slow so you can see their numbers since there’s no pylon to know who is where. (sarcasm folks, just tryin to lighten the mood).”
NASCAR was unable to replace and maintain the old structure that only displayed around 10 driver’s car numbers. The fans were encouraged to look at the newly installed big screens, which are expected to provide timely updates on the running order. However, there were a few drivers who were disappointed to see the pylon taken out of commission.
Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, and Kyle Larson all expressed their views on the removal of the old structure at Talladega. The common sentiment was how it helped them to know the whereabouts of the other drivers or was a visual marker during the qualifying rounds. In case of bad radio connectivity or a lack of team communication, the pylon was the quickest way to realize the positioning in the race.

Well, it is safe to say that Pockrass’ tweet turned out to be an entertaining prospect. And in true NASCAR fashion, fans soon started to chime in with their response, too. One of the fans, seemingly fed up with the broadcasting style, decided to take shots at FOX instead of the issue at hand. “Idk how anyone is hating on the racing we have only seen like 5% racing and 95% commercials can’t hate on what you can’t see,” they wrote.
Another fan hilariously revealed his scepticism about the authenticity of the tweet joking about Jeff Gluck’s involvement on this post.

Old time fans disgusted with NASCAR”.
