“The best way to see a country is from the seat of a motorcycle” – that’s what former NASCAR driver, Kyle Petty, believes. Besides being NBC’s pre-race analyst, the 8-time NASCAR Cup Series winner is also an avid biker who likes the wind on his face as he traverses through the vast plains of the country on his Harley Davidson.

What began in 1995 as a small group adventure, riding along to the countryside, has now become a huge charity fundraiser that has raised over $21 million to support Victory Junction and children’s charities.

And the veteran’s back again, this time attempting to catch a glimpse of the iconic sculpture as he gears up for another Kyle Petty Charity ride through the heartland of the country for a greater cause to Mt. Rushmore.

After all who doesn’t love a long ride across the plains of America? Well, veteran NASCAR driver, Kyle Petty isn’t the one who says no to that. In fact, Petty is an avid motorcyclist who embarks on epic rides on his V-twin Harley, covering as much as 1500 miles in 7 days across the picturesque scenes in Nevada and Salt Lake City, Utah.

What started as a friendly, jolly ride with his friends and close ones 28 years ago has now become a massive fundraiser directly benefitting Victory Junction, a camp in North Carolina that improves the lives of children suffering from chronic illnesses. The ride’s donation is a major chunk of the revenue that supports the initiative by ways of maintaining the program, building the necessary infrastructure, and keeping Kyle Petty Charity Ride Water Park afloat.

Recently, the NASCAR on NBC pre-race analyst shared his 2024 plans as he tweeted out the details about the ride. According to Petty, on day 1, the veteran and his group will crank up the engines from Deadwood, SD, and travel all the way to North Platte, NE in what will be a long but scenic, amazing ride.

The group will also pay a visit to Mt. Rushmore, reattempting to catch a glimpse of the monumental 4-headed sculpture after failing to do so in 2017, owing to fog. In his “X” post, Petty wrote, “Day 1 of the 2024 @kpcharityride will be long, but filled with amazing riding scenery…Plus, we’re going to take our Riders to see Mt. Rushmore. The last time we tried was in 2017 and it was too foggy to see. But we’re making it happen in 2024!”

Good company and the sheer thrill of adventure fills one up with joy and ecstasy. Reflecting on his past rides, Petty said, “We had a phenomenal Ride! But I knew all along that Nevada and Utah would not disappoint. These are two of the most beautiful states to ride motorcycles in. Everywhere we stopped, we were greeted with open arms from fans near and far. And we also had a handful of Victory Junction campers come out to see us along our route. Seeing their excitement and gratitude for our riders is incredible. It really puts into perspective what and who we are riding for. All of our miles lead to all of their smiles!”
