The Connecticut man began racing as a 6-year-old. He started out with the quarter midget cars before moving on to other senior racing forms. But he was successful in all competitions he entered, regularly winning trophies during that time. The Loganos had found their son’s future.

He had the backing of his father, Tom Logano, a businessman. Tom used to travel with him to races and fund the cars he raced in before Joey was able to crack a sponsorship deal for himself.

However, for Joey, the path was clear. He had been very sure since early on in his career that he wanted to pursue racing as his life. In a video released by NASCAR, a young Logano is interviewed during his time in Bandalero racing.

While most of the video is a montage of bits of Logano racing, in the few lines he does speak, he shows the world who he is going to be. Joey said, “I really like the speed and the competition.”

Moreover, he was involved in a scary crash with 2 other cars. Coming out of the crash, luckily unhurt, Logano said “I guess I have no fear, I don’t know! (laughing innocently).
