It’s been some weekend for Tony Stewart, a motorsports icon who has had his fair share of great weekends in his illustrious career as a racecar driver. But now, in his role as a team owner, Stewart is still no stranger to victory lane.

Chase Briscoe, the No.14 driver of the team owned by the former No.14, won the NASCAR Cup Series race in Phoenix, the first race in his career.

This earned him a shoutout message from Smoke himself as he congratulated his driver.

“Hey Chase. Just wanted you to know how proud I am and happy for you,” Stewart said. “So excited that a buddy of mine from Indiana has come up, just like his father and been a hero.”

“You’re the man buddy. Super proud of you, super happy for you and the team. We’ll see you soon man.”

If you’re wondering why Stewart wasn’t in attendance in Phoenix, it’s because he was overseeing another race event in NHRA, another series in which he owns a team.

And would you know it?
