Dale Earnhardt Jr has always been a big supporter of short-track racing and the current scenario with the Next Gen car in the Cup Series is not something that he enjoys. However, he gets his fix of good short-track racing thanks to his CARS Tour and he took part in the latest race at the New River All-American Speedway in Onslow County, North Carolina. He spoke highly of the track but admitted that one of the reasons he enjoyed the experience so much was personal and had to do with his family.

Dale Earnhardt Jr balanced his two most important things at new track

Junior is as much a family man as much as he is a racer and perhaps there is nothing more important to him than his wife and two daughters. Not always is he able to take them to the select few races that he takes part in but the New River All-American Speedway presented a unique opportunity. The track is close enough to his house for the Earnhardts to visit and have a great time over the weekend. Speaking to journalist Matt Weaver after the CARS Tour racer, the former Xfinity Series champion spoke about how he could spend time with his family and do something for himself as well.

“When you’re trying to prioritize family and racing like I am, I can only run so many races. I got two little girls and all kinds of things going on in my life so this kind of was a good mix of being able to bring them somewhere they could go, experience the weekend and there are things to do around in Jacksonville so that was a good thing for me. They came and we’re a part of this. I get to have fun and do what I want to do and do something for myself and be selfish but my family gets to have a great time too this Sunday. That’s probably the best part about it for me. I think it was a good night for the series, good night for the track, had a great race…checked all the boxes,” he said.

The CARS Tour race at the New River All-American Speedway was a massive success for everyone involved. From attendance to the racing action, it was a fantastic day for the competition. Even Dale Earnhardt Jr found the hungry race car driver in himself again as he ended up wrecking one of his close friends on the track.

According to Matt Weaver, the CARS Tour race saw a complete sellout at the North Carolina track. It seems like people are so tired with the Cup Series’ poor short-track racing experience that they have switched to an alternate competition to see some good racing on a track less than a mile in length. 15,000 fans were at the venue to view the race and they had to close the gates as more were clamoring to come in. For Dale Earnhardt Jr, it must have been like a dream come true.

However, the former Xfinity Series champion was not the best racer on track on the day. He finished in P14 and during the race, wrecked Landon Huffman. Huffman finished P24 and did not hesitate to call out the NASCAR legend for his actions on social media. Taking to his official X handle, the driver of the #37 car wrote, “Car was terrible so I drove to the front and led halfway for extra $500 lol. Also @DaleJr wrecked me. Psecond to last,” he tweeted.

The CARS Tour is certainly becoming one of the most talked-about motorsports competitions in the country. It would not be surprising if, in the next few years or so, it becomes the biggest racing series after the three NASCAR national touring competitions. Do you think that can be possible?
