After NASCAR made the announcement prohibiting the ‘Confederate Flag’ from the race venues, Truck Series driver Ray Ciccarelli posted a shocking message. The driver announced his retirement after 2020 citing NASCAR’s decision to ban the flag as his prime reason.

Currently, Ray Ciccarelli competes in the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series driving the Number 49 ‘Chevrolet Silverado’ for CMI Motorsports on a part-time basis. Additionally, he owns the CMI Motorsports team.

He wrote to in a Facebook post which he later deleted. He wrote, “Well its been a fun ride and dream come true but if this is the direction Nascar is headed we will not participate after 2020 season is over.”

Pointing out the incident from the Atlanta race he added, “I don’t believe in kneeling during Anthem nor taken ppl right to fly whatever flag they love. I could care less about the Confederate Flag but there are ppl that do. And it doesn’t make them a racist all you are doing is F***ing one group to cater to another. And I ain’t spend the money we are to participate in any political BS!! So everything is for SALE!!”

NASCAR bans the confederate flag after Bubba Wallace’s call

Recently, Cup Series driver Bubba Wallace called the series to ban the confederate flag in an interview with CNN. His statement came in support of the widespread protest against racial discrimination. Bubba has emerged as a leader of the movement in NASCAR. After his calls, multiple NASCAR stars joined the movement and NASCAR itself came forward to send a strong message against racial discrimination.

After Bubba’s call, NASCAR made the historic decision of banning the flag from its venues. It is a big step from NASCAR and have received widespread positive reaction from across the country.
