Last Friday, Stewart-Haas Racing announced that two of its race shop workers have contracted COVID-19. These are one of the first NASCAR employees to test positive for the disease.
The recent cases are the first appearance of the virus in NASCAR’s backyard. The series returned from lockdown last month and has been successful in curbing the spread of the virus. There isn’t a single case of COVID-19 among the team members who attended the races.
Stewart Haas Racing gave an official statement on the issues. Motorsports.com posted the SHR team’s statement in a recent post. The statement said, “Stewart-Haas Racing has experienced two positive COVID-19 test results, neither of which involved personnel who travel to race events.”

Team Penske employee was the first detected case in NASCAR
Earlier, Team Penske announced that one of its workers tested positive for COVID-19. After that, the said person was put in isolation for the entire week. Later, it was revealed that he recovered from the disease with no major symptoms.
After the series made a historic decision to resume racing amid COVID-19 lockdown. NASCAR and the teams have put up strict conventions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They came up with strict updated health and safety regulations including no fan entry in venues, no celebratory physical touch, social distancing, and face masks for everyone.
The results have been mostly positive with only a few reported cases of the deadly virus. To this date, just a couple of team members have tested positive. Additionally, none of the tested workers caught any severe symptoms and are or have recovered well.
