In the NASCAR Cup arena, Danica Patrick is pretty much viewed as a trailblazer. Although she wasn’t overly successful on the race track, she still managed to set the benchmark for women in NASCAR. It is also worth mentioning that she initially raced in IndyCar, so the transition to NASCAR was not smooth. In light of this, 4-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon once spoke about Patrick and his admiration of her.

He said, “I think Danica’s a great asset to the sport. She brings a lot of interest, she’s a good race car driver. I think that there’s times when you can see a lack of experience in a stock car. There’s some things that she certainly could learn to do better, but she works hard at it. I think that there’s times where I look at the time and go, ‘Wow! Danica’s really running good today’. She’s definitely a talented race car driver. She belongs here, I really believe she belongs here.

How did Danica Patrick perform in the NASCAR Cup Series?

In her entire career, she competed in the Xfinity and the Cup Series. Taking the two series combined, she notched up two pole positions, one in each series. In addition to that, she recorded seven Top 10 finishes each in the Cup and Xfinity arenas. Her best Cup Series finish was a fine 6th place at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2014 for Stewart-Haas Racing. As for the Xfinity Series, she romped to an excellent 4th-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the 2011 campaign.

Danica Patrick also has the honor of being the only female IndyCar winner. This was after she triumphed at the Motegi circuit in Japan, all the way back in 2008. To prove that it was no flash in the pan, she notched up seven IndyCar podiums and even three pole positions.
