The NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway was expected to be chaotic. However, the current series of events was not quite what fans expected with just 52 laps run so far. The race extends into its fourth-scheduled day on Wednesday, after a major part of Sunday, and everything on Monday and Tuesday was washed out.
NASCAR is determined to complete the Texas race before the field reaches Martinsville Speedway on Sunday for the elimination race. That is why they have been going at it with efforts to dry the track despite constant rain and mist.
It also means that if the race is postponed yet again on Wednesday, they will make another effort on Thursday. The weather forecast is better for Wednesday post noon and evening. It is even better on Thursday. The race is now scheduled for a restart at 3 pm ET on Wednesday.

Scheduling changes for NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville
However, the Texas race being held on Thursday will cause scheduling headaches for the Martinsville weekend. It will not just affect the Cup Series race, but also the NASCAR Xfinity and Truck Series.
If Texas is indeed run on Thursday, the Xfinity Series race at Martinsville will be pushed to Monday night. The Cup race will stay on the original schedule of Sunday afternoon, while the Truck race will be on Sunday night.
If the race happens on Wednesday, there will be no changes to the schedule for Martinsville.

As per the current schedule for Martinsville, the Xfinity Series race is on Saturday night and the Truck race is on Friday night.
While the said changes are not yet officially announced, reports suggest that NASCAR has indicated this contingency plan to the team owners.

Monday and Tuesday saw multiple efforts by NASCAR to get things going. The drier vehicles ventured out to the track to dry it quickly and were forced back in as the rain and mist picked up. This kept happening throughout the two days.
On Tuesday, there was a brief period where it seemed the race could get started again. Later in the afternoon, the officials even expressed the possibility of an 8.30 pm start. The rain picked up soon and NASCAR lost all progress made throughout the day.
