Alopecia is a condition that leads to hair loss from the scalp or elsewhere on the body. A lot of people became familiar with it after the Chris Rock and Will Smith controversy, which stemmed from a joke made about the illness Jada Pinkett Smith suffers from.
Recently, NASCAR driver Kyle Larson’s wife shared that their daughter also was diagnosed with that rare condition.

Larson’s daughter has suffered from the symptoms of the illness ever since she was 18 months old. However, only recently did a proper diagnosis confirmed her condition. Alopecia causes a person’s hair to fall out and prevents new strands from growing. Moreover, this autoimmune disease is considered to have no cure.
During an interview, Kyle Larson’s wife stated, “It took a little bit of time to figure out really what it was and if it was reoccurring. Doctors wouldn’t put an actual diagnosis on it. They just kept saying she has hair loss. They gave it a title but said that she would probably grow out of it. So, we didn’t really make it known.”
She added, “In the beginning, it was like why is this randomly happening? And then I kind of linked it to flu shots and vaccines, and I didn’t want to talk about that because it can be very controversial. But I have linked it back to that, I believe. Because the two years that she did get one, her hair fell out shortly after.”
