There’s been a growing concern about toxins lurking in everyday household items, and it’s got more people than ever questioning what’s in their homes. Take a stroll through your kitchen and you might not think twice about the pots and pans tucked away in the cupboard. But what if those trusty nonstick pans or aluminum baking trays are doing more harm than good? It’s a topic making waves, and Samantha Busch is jumping right in with a lifestyle overhaul she’s keen to share.
The reality TV personality and wife of NASCAR driver Kyle Busch recently took to Instagram to discuss her journey to a cleaner, toxin-free home.

Samantha Busch rethinks what’s in her kitchen
Samantha Busch’s recent Instagram Story kicked off with an earnest, no-frills confession: “Let’s talk easy non-toxic swaps. I know this is very overwhelming, and I feel the same way—I’m only in the middle of it. I’m not 100%, but I’m learning, so I want to share what I’ve learned so far and what I think is easy and more doable.”
First up on her hit list? Cookware. Samantha has replaced her old toxic nonstick pans with safer, more traditional options. “If you have any cookware that has that black on it, swap it out,” she urged. “I love wooden [utensils], super easy, amazing, and found this at Home Goods. Very non-toxic, very clean. I switched out all of our pans from like that toxic nonstick, which is not great. So I have all clean cookware.”
One favorite of hers is cast iron. It’s a material that has stood the test of time for a reason, and Samantha’s all-in on its benefits. “Honestly, one of my very favorite [things] to use is cast iron,” she shared. “I was literally talking to my mom about this the other day, and I was like, I feel like just going back to what people used to use is the way to go.”
Samantha didn’t stop at cookware. Air fresheners and candles—often packed with synthetic fragrances and hormone-disrupting chemicals—were next on her radar. Her easy alternative? “I put a pot of water on the stove with essential oils in it, and the whole house smells great. You can also do things like cranberries, cloves, oranges—whatever you want. Smells absolutely wonderful.”
And for those thinking about bigger changes, Samantha pointed out options like non-toxic cleaning supplies, detergents, and dishwasher pods. “These are maybe some things that we don’t commonly think about that are easier swaps than some of the big stuff,” she explained. She encouraged fans to share their own tips, saying, “Please DM me, share with me some swaps that you’re doing, and I would love to share them with others to help them make this journey an experience easier for them as well.”

Are nonstick pans a hidden health hazard, or is Samantha Busch overreacting with her kitchen overhaul?
Have an interesting take?
Science backs up Samantha’s concerns about everyday toxins. According to Dr. Elizabeth Bradley, medical director for Functional Medicine at Cleveland Clinic, certain materials in cookware, like nonstick Teflon, can release harmful fumes when overheated. These fumes may cause short-term symptoms like fever and breathing difficulties, but the bigger issue is long-term toxin accumulation. As Bradley notes, “It’s the accumulation of toxins that can lead to concern.”
So, what are the safer options? Experts recommend materials like cast iron, stainless steel, and oven-safe glass. While no material is perfect, making incremental swaps can reduce exposure and improve health over time.

Samantha’s back to red meat—and she’s loving it
Samantha Busch has often used her platform to raise awareness regarding a variety of issues that many women face, especially as they get older, whether it’s pregnancy-related, health-related, or parenting advice. Her clean-living journey doesn’t stop at what’s on her stove; it’s also about what’s on her plate. Longtime fans might know she spent most of her life steering clear of red meat. But in December, Samantha made headlines for a surprising revelation: she’s back on the beef.
“I don’t even know who I am anymore,” she joked in an Instagram Story, accompanied by a package of ground beef, beef liver, and heart. “Spent 25 years not eating regular red meat, now I’m downing hearts and livers too.”

Her shift wasn’t planned. It all started with an unusual craving while she was cooking steaks for her family. Suddenly, she found herself wanting to try it. And the results were almost immediate. “Contrary to warnings I received about eating red meat, I felt healthier,” she revealed. She even noticed improvements in her skin and overall well-being.
Samantha’s approach to health has always been intuitive, and she encourages others to listen to their bodies. “Be your own advocate, keep digging, and figure it out until you feel the best version of yourself,” she advised. For her, incorporating red meat has been particularly beneficial in managing her autoimmune condition, alopecia. Despite conventional advice for an anti-inflammatory diet, she found red meat to be a helpful addition.
Her newfound love for red meat became a talking point during a trip to Las Vegas, where she indulged in a steak—and hasn’t looked back since. On X, she even sought out recipe recommendations, much to the delight of fans who were quick to offer suggestions ranging from brisket to steak with red wine sauce. Kyle Busch, her husband, was likely just as thrilled, as fans joked he’d finally get to enjoy red meat again after 25 years.
