This was not the first time that Busch experienced an on-track issue with his car. Earlier, at the Kansas Speedway, the #18 driver encountered a problem with his tire. This led his car to spin out of the infield and he finished the race in the 26th position.

And now, in the Bristol Speedway race, Busch’s engine failed and his race ended abruptly. Initially, taking a lead in the race, Busch did accumulate 14 points. However, he was still short of 2 points to qualify for the Round of 12. Hence, the Bristol engine failure cost him his chance to move ahead in the 2022 Cup Series.

Upset by the incident, Samantha Busch, Kyle Busch’s wife, penned a heartfelt note to her husband. Posting a picture of her hugging Busch, Samantha wrote,

“Don’t know what to say, tonight sucked big time. My heart hurts to see the frustration and disappointment all over Kyle’s face. I love you, babe, I know racing this year hasn’t gone how you wanted it to but we will keep fighting, I’ll always be by your side! You are too talented not to shine and myself and #RowdyNation can’t wait to have the opportunity to get back in VL 🏁 🏆 #loveyou”

The incident indeed was heartbreaking for the two-time cup series champion. Apart from him, Tyler Reddick, Austin Dillon, and Kevin Harvick were eliminated from the next round.

Like his wife, Samantha, Kyle Busch too was upset by the incidents that transpired at the Bristol Speedway. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver said that he worked really hard and doesn’t think that he and his team deserve this. Apart from the tire tragedy at Kansas, Busch encountered an engine blow-up at Darlington on September 4, 2022.

Sad by the events in the last three races, Busch said after the Bristol race; “It just goes with our year. I don’t even know what to say. I’m flabbergasted. I just feel so bad for my guys. They don’t deserve to be in this spot. They work too hard.”

Further, he talked about how the constant glitches are frustrating. he said; “We are too good of a group to be this low – down on the bottom, fighting for our lives just to make it through. Two engine failures in three weeks will do it to you. I really feel bad for all of Rowdy Nation, everybody at M&M’s, Interstate Batteries, Rowdy Energy, and all of the partners that get us going every week. This is not our normal.”
