NASCAR and faith may seem like an unusual pairing on the surface, but if you think of it, it does make a lot of sense. Being one of the most high-risk sports, a little bit of faith is what keeps everyone hopeful. Most importantly for NASCAR wives. Samantha Busch, the wife of Kyle Busch, is no exception to this commonality. Growing up in the midwestern rust belt of Indiana, Samantha was without a doubt a devout Catholic; spirituality has always taken center stage in her life. But she always had one major pet peeve with her older style of worship when growing up Catholic.
“Did my best”: Samantha Busch‘s problem with her older worship style
Samantha Busch has always been quite vocal about her Christian faith, and her devout spirituality towards God is a very common theme on many of her social media posts. It is now Christmas season, and Samantha has been busy with the community gatherings and Church Masses. Continuing her passion for the faith, she took to Instagram to post a story about her new church.

In the video, she can be seen singing along to the prayer song with everyone, in a very chill, breezy auditorium, along with fancy lights and a music system giving it an elegant ambiance. This is where she took a second to confess her issue with her older practice. She already gave discretion on top with the caption: “Not saying this in a negative way at all”, implying that it is not to be taken in any light of opposition to anyone’s liking.
“I grew up Catholic and especially as a kid did my best to stay awake during mass” Busch admitted in the caption. She often found herself struggling to stay awake during the structured Catholic proceedings. As a child, she had difficulty understanding the rigid ritualistic format and found it hard to connect with the old-school approach. But still, due to her strong faith and respect, she made it her objective to stay awake throughout.
But at this stage of her life, Samantha thinks she has found her true spiritual calling in the form of her new church. Here, Samantha has found joy in a more young, dynamic, and interactive form of worship without much rigidity. The wife of the 2x World Champion couldn’t contain her excitement from being there. She defined her experiences at Elevation Church as high-energy services featuring loud music and enthusiastic singing. “I am so happy to have found a church that fits my worship style especially that they play the music loud,” she mentioned. For Samantha Busch, this change has been proving to be good, as she has found herself to be more passionate about her faith than ever before, something that her kids will also be able to accept and enjoy.

Her faith at times like these is her best pillar of support. In the story, by embracing unorthodox worship, she has not only found her spiritual calling but also found a sense of belonging in a community that celebrates individuality and joy.
Samantha is amongst many NASCAR entities who are deeply spiritual. In more recent times, William Byron has shown his spiritual tendencies on his car dashboard. A small metal plate that reads, “God’s plan is exceedingly abundantly above anything we could imagine for ourselves. (Ephesians 3:20)“. “It’s the verse I always keep in mind when I race,” Byron explained. “It talks about the power of God and what He can do. That’s more than what we can imagine for ourselves and what we can even think of and believe for ourselves.”
