The past Cup Series race, the Coca-Cola 600 was certainly an exciting endeavor for NASCAR and its huge fanbase with plenty of action unraveling on the track. The race at Charlotte Motor Speedway did much more than just quench the insatiable thirst of its fans. It also had numerous twists and offered a lot of drama.
As the race unfolded to its final leg, Ryan Blaney emerged victorious with the crowd chanting and cheering for the driver. While things weren’t so fortunate for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Denny Hamlin as his brief contact with HMS speedster, Chase Elliott caused a vicious wreck for the JGR driver when he was put into the wall head-on.
Following his ugly stint with Elliott, Hamlin dished out yet another exciting episode of his Action Detrimental podcast where the veteran also shed light on a specific incident involving veteran driver, Brad Keselowski, and another one of Hendrick Motorsports’ drivers in the pit lane.

Denny Hamlin Sides With William Byron as He Dives Into the Lesser-Known Pit Incident at Charlotte
While Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney put on a clinical performance to take home his first victory of the season, the race also witnessed several heated episodes on the track. As Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott were engaged in an ugly tussle, the eventful race also had an incident involving another HMS driver.
William Byron, who finished a close second, also had a brief haul with Brad Keselowski, when both the drivers decided to pit close to one another. Hamlin talking to his co-host Jared Allen explained the tight situation as he found fault with the #6 RFK Racing team.
He said, “One thing, the drama between the 24 and the #6 team just to put a button on that, the 6 team is at fault.”
“They are mad because 24 is coming into his box and they can’t get to their car, well, breaking news if you choose to pit down there behind the number one pit stall that guy probably going to be running better than you all day,”
Hamlin then added, “They knew 24 is gonna be good and so when you choose to pit behind a good car, you’re just gonna have to wait and you cannot jump off the wall until he clears yours.”
Furthermore, the 23Xl Racing co-owner also elaborated on the “new rule” that NASCAR implemented that helps the teams avoid a penalty.

As the 42-year-old explains the whole situation to his friend and co-host of the popular show, Hamlin also mentioned NASCAR’s new rule that probably saved the teams from hefty pit-lane fines.
Hamlin, in the same podcast, said, “NASCAR has got this new rule where you can’t impede the other team’s pit stop.” He perfectly laid out his point as he recreated the scenario while reminding the listeners who was at fault here. He explained, “They said that has more to do with when, lets say, Brad was in his stall, ser vicing his car, William can’t come around and cut the ankles of the guy who is changing tires or you know carrying the tires, right?”
“So that’s what that box is painted there for, I heard they gave William Byron a warning saying, don’t do that, I think that’s what I heard. But it’s, that’s on the #6 team.”
