Martin Truex Jr. left a long-lasting impact on the NASCAR community. From his underdog story with the fairytale championship at Furniture Row Racing in 2017 to his consistent performances with Joe Gibbs Racing after that, Truex Jr. is a bona fide legend. A fan favorite in his time, now his brother, Ryan Truex, seems to be getting the same adulation.

Ryan Truex, 32-year-old brother to Martin Truex Jr. has been having a tough time so far. Given how he has been struggling to land a full-time position in the Xfinity Series, the 2024 season was kind of a breakthrough season for Truex. Driving the No. 19 and 20 Toyota Supras in the Xfinity Series for 11 races, he managed to bag two wins and six top-10 finishes. However, he drove his last race of the season for Sam Hunt Racing at Homestead and secured a 21st-place finish.

Now that Sam Hunt Racing is all set to unveil their new driver for the 2025 seasons, fans have started to campaign in favor of Ryan Truex. Although the spot for a full-timer is just one, the spot is heavily challenged by the possibility of drivers like Dean Thompson.

Truex would be a worthy addition to the 2025 Season

Ryan Truex does have big shoes to fill in. Truex made a statement in the Xfinity series last year with a win at the Wawa 250 Powered by Coca-Cola at the
Daytona International Speedway. Truex competed in the 2024 season as a part-timer for both Joe Gibbs and Sam Hunt Racing and claimed victory in the BetRivers 200 at Dover Motor Speedway. Although Truex started 12th on the grid, his strategic skills made him come to the front spot. The race took an unexpected twist during overtime, stretching to 208 laps due to multiple crashes. Despite the chaos, Ryan Truex managed to navigate the challenges better than most.

With Sam Hunt Racing having one spot for a full-timer, there are speculations that Martin Truex Jr’s brother might have been signed. Truex does have good sponsorship in the race and it comes from names like Toyota, SiriusXM, and Auto-Owners Insurance. A mysterious post from Sam Hunt Racing on Instagram has sparked fans to debate whether Ryan Truex has got the seat. The post depicts a driver sitting down, but none of their face or body can be seen.

Although Truex was sporting for Joe Gibbs and had put forth quite a good season, the team took Brandon Jones as a full-timer for the 2025 season. Speaking of the same to the Athletic, Truex was seen expressing his frustration, “As a part-time guy, I’m at the simulator a lot. That’s my full-time job. I’m there two or three times a week, eight hours a day. I do that for JGR weekly on the Cup side. That’s probably something people don’t know”.

After a stellar season as a part-timer, Truex was dumbfounded as to how he wasn’t chosen full-time. “I’m like, “All right, I’ve won two out of six (races). Surely, this is going to land me a ride.” The talks get a little more aggressive with each win. And then with Daytona, I feel like that started to push it over the edge a little bit where it’s like, “All right, this is ridiculous now. What else do I need to do at this point? That was three out of 10 I’ve won.”.” Truex won at Dover in April 2023 with JGR and repeated that feat in 2024 along with a Daytona win, all while racing just 17 times across the two Xfinity seasons.

Fans appreciate the effort he has put in and desperately want to see him as a full-time entry.

Given that the face has not been revealed and there are chances for Dean Thompson grabbing the spot as well, another fan took the post and commented, “If ain’t truex it’s dean Thompson but they could have two cars and put Ryan in the other”. It seems like fans are urging SHR to do whatever they can to secure Ryan Truex, even if that means purchasing another charter.
