Last week certainly was a rollercoaster for racing fans as the coveted Indy500 was action-packed while the Coca-Cola 600 became a wreck-fest. As Josef Newgarden picked up an impressive win edging out the fearsome Marcus Ericsson, his fellow Team Penske driver, Ryan Blaney, ended his 59-race winless slump with a stellar performance bringing the Ford back to the podium.
While the proud Penske team conquered the iconic “double” with dominating wins at both Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway, the #12 driver joined the ecstatic fans in the stands as he celebrated the victory.
With Blaney’s feel-good finish, the community got the best of all as his fellow driver and his soon-to-be brother-in-law, William Byron crossed the finish line a close second. Following his triumph, the proud Mustang driver joined Dale Earnhardt Jr on the popular The Dale Jr. Download podcast and opened up about his fellow driver dating his sister.

As the #12 Mustang crossed the checkered flag on Monday, Ford got their much-needed win as the victory itself was a bold statement to the doubter and nay-sayers. The action-packed race also had thrills and frills all along the way. While the #12 driver put a clinical performance, HMS speedster, and Kyle Busch’s prodigy, William Byron also showed his mettle after a respectful neck and neck between the two during the final laps of the race.
Despite all the bumps on the track, the race had the perfect feel-good finish to it with the soon-to-be in-laws coming at the top. As the fans cheered the return of the driver back to the podium, Blaney celebrated his return to form with the fans in the stands!
Soon after the race with a double treat, Erin Blaney took to her social media as she lauded both her brother and her fiancee. While fans appreciated both the drivers for their exceptional show of sportsmanship, a curious Dale Jr asked Blaney about his closer connection with the #24 driver.
“Yeah, William’s great, it’s been fun to get to know him, you know from a very personal level now especially him being at a bunch of family functions and stuff. He’s a great kid, I mean, he’s an awesome guy and you know I really enjoy being around him,” said Blaney.
He then revealed what it’s like to race him on the track, “And then racing him is one of those things like, it’s like racing one of your good buddies, right? You race hard but you know you have respect for each other too.”
On an even more positive note, Blaney said, “Erin picked a good one, yeah, Erin picked a really good one.”
Seeing the former Kyle Busch Motorsports driver rise up the ranks must certainly be a fulfilling sight for Kyle Busch.
