Ryan Blaney was reaping the fruits of his hard work on Thursday night. The 2023 Cup Series champion was the leading name on the guest list for NASCAR’s annual banquet and commemoration of NASCAR champions of the year. A special occasion needed a special look, and Blaney was up to the task. In a specially customized tuxedo, the Team Penske star looked dapper. For the jacket was not an ordinary one but a culmination of all his achievements this season.
It featured his wins at Charlotte, Martinsville, and Talladega, and glimpses from those were imprinted on the inside of his black tuxedo. And like the proud friend that he is, Ryan didn’t shy away from publicly acknowledging the incredibly tailored marvel of his dear friend.

Ryan Blaney displays his friend’s incredible fashion sense
After three years of disappointment in the Round of 8 races, Ryan Blaney finally broke the curse in 2023. With such an intense story behind the championship win, the celebration for the win deserved something special. That is when Mitch Ferguson stepped in, offering Blaney a tuxedo showcasing the jubilant moments from his championship run.
Addressing media personnel gathered at the press conference after the ceremony, Blaney said, “Stitched by a good friend of mine, Mitch Ferguson. He’s from Charlotte. He does a lot of great jackets. I didn’t know, he said I’ve got something special for you. He’s got all the wins in it so that is kind of cool. Pictures from victory lane that he sewed in there. I had no idea he was doing this for me, so nice little special gift from Mitch.”
On being asked if it held all the ten wins from his Cup career, he revealed, “No, just this year. All three from this year. “

The Music City Center in Nashville was graced by a horde of NASCAR stars from the three national racing series. Even former drivers like Dale Earnhardt Jr were in the mix of superstars. The evening also saw Chase Elliott win his sixth successive NMPA NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver of the Year award.
Ryan Blaney was among the contenders for the award but it seems even in the middle of a disastrous regular season with no playoff action, Chase Elliott is the most rooted driver in the fanbase. Later in the event, Blaney also showed gratitude for being in the competition alongside some of the world’s best racers.

“I know, all the competitors, we don’t agree all the time, but it is a true honor to race with the best in the world on a weekly basis, and I do appreciate that,” claimed the Cup champion.
The other person who has been Ryan’s constant pillar of strength is his father, Dave. The Blaney ancestry is rich with racing champions who have made a name in various motorsport circuits. With Ryan finally adding the missing Cup Series trophy to the cabinet, he has his dad to credit for a lot of it.
“Obviously, growing up, watching Dad race, that’s just what I wanted to do, and I wanted to be like my Dad,” Blaney said. “I was super lucky to be able see that at a young age and get the whole spectrum of seeing what it’s like as a driver, seeing how teams operated.”
