Sherry Pollex’s tragic passing in 2023 had brought the world of NASCAR to tears, and ahead of the 2024 Daytona 500, Ryan Blaney announced that he would honor her memory in a heartfelt message. Pollex, Martin Truex Jr’s partner, was a loved member of the racing community. Even after the couple decided to end their relationship, she remained an integral part of a lot of people’s lives in the sport.
Several drivers poured in their tributes after Sherry Pollex passed away, including the likes of Martin Truex Jr, Ryan Blaney, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and others. Her battle against ovarian cancer is well documented, and her life’s work toward helping children who were victims of cancer and their families is an inspiration.

Ryan Blaney is the founder of the Ryan Blaney Family Foundation charity, and a post was recently shared from the foundation’s official Instagram handle, stating that all the proceeds from the 2024 Daytona 500 would go towards Sherry Pollex’s charity, SherryStrong. It is a fantastic initiative from the 2023 Cup Series champion’s foundation, which helps people and families dealing with Alzheimer’s or a concussion diagnosis.
“In honor of our friend, Sherry Pollex, a portion of this weekend’s proceeds will benefit SherryStrong for the completion of the @adventhealthcfl SherryStrong Integrative Wellness Clinic in Daytona Beach scheduled to open in 2025. Just one more reason to stop by and see us at our tent at @onedaytona outside of the entrance to @4riverssmokehouse Our hours are: Thursday, 11 am – 7 pm, Friday, 11 am – 7:30 pm, Saturday, 8 am – 5 pm and Sunday, 8 am – 2:30 pm,” the Instagram post was captioned.

Given just how much racing fans loved Sherry Pollex, one can be certain that there would be a lot of people at the Ryan Blaney Family Foundation tent at One Daytona to donate to the cause. It is always heartwarming to see the NASCAR community coming together for a common cause, and the Great American Race weekend may very well see one such instance.
Pollex’s work towards helping people who had been diagnosed with cancer was perhaps seen as the best by NASCAR racer Martin Truex Jr. He was with her when she did her job to help people, and after her demise, the former Cup Series champion penned a heartbreaking message in which he spoke highly of her efforts.
