Star Wars are NASCAR are two things one wouldn’t think of together but Bubba Wallace is bringing them together. A few years ago, the 23XI Racing driver went to Disney World’s Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge and had a field time. There is no question that Bubba is a fan of the legendary science fiction franchise. He has something special planned for the final race of the 2023 Cup Series season in partnership with Columbia and fans are having a hard time containing their excitement.

A franchise like Star Wars has millions of fans around the world. The stories of Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia Amidala, and others have captivated fans for decades. So it’s not surprising that the current Cup Series field has more than one fan of the franchise. On his Disney Land trip, Bubba Wallace had a companion and it was none other than 2023 Cup Series championship contender Ryan Blaney.

If there ever was to be a Star Wars x NASCAR paint job collab for any NASCAR driver, people just assumed that it would be Blaney. He is, after all, the biggest Star Wars fan among the Cup drivers. Nobody quite expected Bubba Wallace to get it before the Team Penske star.

The news was broken by the Twitter handle Columbia1938, a sportswear brand. “Get set up for your attack run. @BubbaWallace and @23XIRacing head into Championship Weekend with a look inspired by a galaxy far, far away… Stay tuned!” the tweet read. The video along with the Tweet showed the iconic targeting system which the rebels used to blow up the Death Star.

Anyone who follows Ryan Blaney is well aware of his love for the Star Wars franchise. The driver of Team Penske has multiple Star Wars tattoos and has often spoken about his adulation for the original trilogy. The best movie in the franchise, according to the 29-year-old, is, of course, Empire Strikes Back.

Fans seemed to have a hard time believing that Bubba Wallace got the Star Wars paint scheme before Ryan Blaney. Some suggested that the Team Penske star would be a jealous man in the most important race of his life so far.

Blaney bouta be jealous as s**t, one fan wrote on Reddit.

“Imagine hugging your best friend who is a huge Star Wars fan in victory lane and whispering to him that you get to drive a Star Wars car,” commented another.

Bubba Wallace fans were ecstatic with the news. If you’re a Bubba and a Star Wars fan then the race weekend couldn’t come any sooner.

“The driver I root for most doing a scheme for the franchise I’m a huge fan of! That’ll be my first diecast purchase! I have spoken,” one Bubba Wallace fan commented.

“BUBBA TO THE (RED) FIVE CONFIRMED!” exclaimed another.
